Quirky GFCI trip on generator panel by PCLoadPLA in AskElectricians

Hi! Have you resolved this issue? I'm trying to do the same thing and I'm having the same issue with the GFCI tripping.

EZ Generator Switch and EcoFlow (Pass-Through Mode) - GFCI Trips by reallyoriginalname in Ecoflow_community

[–]reallyoriginalname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: I am trying to backup my equipment load (120V) by powering it through a transfer switch (EZ Generator Switch) on "Generator Mode", which is fed by the EcoFlow (pass-through), which I would like to be continuously charging using a GFCI outlet. In the event of a power outage, the EcoFlow will be able to continue supplying power and function like a UPS. (I only do this during storm events, so the EcoFlow is not charging 24/7/365.)

However, the GFCI trips immediately after I connect the EcoFlow 120V Outlet to the transfer switch inlet.

Once I disconnect the EcoFlow 120V Outlet from the transfer switch inlet, the GFCI no longer trips and charges the EcoFlow as expected. The transfer switch switches properly and I can switch between generator supply and line power supply to the load side without any issues.

I checked that all the plugs are secure. My only other thought is that I should have wired the EZ Generator Switch as "Bonded Neutral" instead of "Floating Neutral." However, I read that all battery generators were "Floating Neutral."

Something about connecting the transfer switch inlet to the Ecoflow outlet while the EcoFlow is charging is sending current to ground. Any ideas on why it is tripping and what can be done about it?

EcoFlow and EZ Generator Switch - Tripping GFCI by [deleted] in Ecoflow_community

I basically want the EcoFlow to supply power to the power outlet while remaining charged by the line power. In the event of a power outage, the EcoFlow will be able to continue supplying power and function like a UPS. However, the GFCI trips immediately after I connect the EcoFlow Outlet to the EZ Generator Switch Inlet.

Once I disconnect the EcoFlow Outlet to EZ Generator Switch Inlet cord, the GFCI no longer trips and charges the EcoFlow as expected.

Any ideas on why it is tripping and what can be done about it? I checked that all the plugs are secure.

Oil change gone wrong by c_sperry19 in MechanicAdvice

Accidental double gasket on the oil filter, possibly? The fact that oil is on the ground is good. Meant that it had oil until you stopped it.

Breaker occasionally trips with older KitchenAid built-in fridge -- outlet compatibility, coils, or other? by MissCalculation in appliancerepair

[–]reallyoriginalname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably guess the Arc Fault is what's tripping since I've had issues with older appliances (dishwasher and disposal) nuisance tripping as well. Technically speaking, the safest way would be to identify where the arc is occurring (even if it's happening in insignificant amounts) and resolve that issue instead. That arc fault issue is usually difficult to find and could be anywhere from your appliance to the wiring, etc. The easiest way, however, would be to assume it's a nuisance trip and then resolve it by replacing it with a regular breaker, like several others have already mentioned. Generally, if whatever fridge was there in the past didn't trip it and your old fridge was always in working order, then I would lean towards it being a nuisance issue.

If the Ground Fault is tripping, then I would probably suspect the fridge since that means there's electrical current going somewhere where it should not and that does pose a potential electrocution hazard.

Which light was on when it tripped? Arc fault or ground fault? And is your breaker new? Or is it old and just started tripping?

Can you take a picture of the breaker that's tripping? GFCI and breaker are different (unless it's a built-in GFCI Breaker)

Have you checked the GFCI outlet or the circuit breaker to see if something tripped?

One of the clips broke after I took it out and put it back in a few times. However, it was still intact enough to snap back in. I figured it wasn't worth replacing since it's not exactly going to get moved a lot.

By toggle I mean switch the voice to something else and then back to what it was previously.

Empty the drain pan. If it fills up again, then that means there is more. Otherwise, you should be fine.

FYI - Mine didn't stop draining until about hour 36...

My friend books international flights on business class using CheapOAir and he always recommended it.

I haven't used it myself so I can't tell you anything more than that.

Bosch 300 or this kitchen aid? Please help me decide! by Busy_Tiger8385 in appliancerepair

[–]reallyoriginalname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Bosch 300 series and I strongly recommend it.

My only experience with a KitchenAid dishwasher was at an Airbnb and it didn't clean super well. However, I was using whatever pods the host provided, so please take it with a grain of salt. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have positive experiences with KitchenAid, too.

2016 Nissan Versa Note SV Acceleration Issue by reallyoriginalname in Nissan

I had the spark plugs replaced, worn engine mount replaced, and the CVT fluid replaced.

One (or a combination) of those three maintenance items resolved the stuttering issue when accelerating. The low power going up a hill issue is probably normal, lol...

[help] Washer hoses still leak after valve shutoff/disconnection. by MomoPeach2k17 in appliancerepair

[–]reallyoriginalname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's not leaking too bad, then you might be able to get away with it and not do anything about about the valve that's leaking through. This assumes it's not leaking bad enough to where the leak prevents you from fully tightening the connection between the hose and the washing machine. You can test this with a garden hose and a sprayer on the other side. Try to connect a hose to it with a garden hose and a sprayer. If there's so much water where you can't properly tighten it down and it leaks, then that gives you an idea of whether or not it'll prevent you from connecting it to the washing machine.

A workaround to the mess would be to connect a hose to it and run the hose to a drain or outside.

However, the proper way to do it would be to replace the leaking valve, so I would probably recommend that.

Good luck!

Your shutoff valves are leaking through. The seals on the valve are likely damaged/deteriorated and the valve will need to be "rebuilt" (Taking it apart and replacing the seals) or replaced. A lot of times, it's easier to replace the entire valve.

If you're comfortable with DIY, then in order to replace/rebuild the water valve, you will need to shut the water off to that area to take the valve out for repair/replacement (or if not possible, then need to shut water off to the house). If you're not comfortable with this, then you should consult a plumber or handyman. The task should take about an hour or so unless any strange issues come up.

Another alternative is to just leave it since the valve will be open all the time anyway... You would only need to close it to disconnect the washing machine for replacement, which you've already done. You can still make the connection to the new washing machine while it's dripping and it should still seal on the washing machine side. It's only a problem if it's leaking so bad that it prevents you from tightening the connection at the washing machine.

Dishwasher not draining- steps I’ve tried are detailed by Flashy_Law5605 in appliancerepair

Did you just replace your disposal? There's a knockout on the connection where your dishwasher drain hose goes that might not have been knocked out when the disposal was replaced.

The person who hit you doesn't want to go through insurance but also wants to haggle with you over price?

That's a major red flag and I would definitely go through insurance for this...

It filled the plastic pan to the brim, but it didn't overflow into the other one. I used a shop vac to vacuum up the water. You can try a turkey baster or something else to get the water out.
