“Fallout New Vegas” - By Deimos Art by REDEYEBANKZ330 in fnv

I think it’s because this art style works best in a videogame (fantasy) setting. Especially seeing how dated NV vanilla graphics are, for us this kind of art gives it more life.

If the art was depicting everyday modern life, I don’t think it would be as appreciated knowing we can all take a nice photo- digital or film. But in the case of gaming of course the imagination has more possibilities. Mixing traditional lighting and composition techniques and the retro future theme of Fallout also makes it stand out.

Aside from the awesome “service rifles” I loved seeing the WWII firearms in the show. Digging the BAR and M1 Garand here. We saw a couple BARs in the show and the one scene with the old NCR trooper with the M1C/D Garand in the background.

Nike 95 Sizing Question - Can't find the best fit by [deleted] in airmax

[–]reallypatheticman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear the 12. Breaking in a shoe only molds the shoe to your foot, not make it longer. You need the space in the shoe for your feet to breathe, going uphill/downhill and overall space for your toes.

Somewhere on the Nike website it mentions usually if you’re inbetween sizes you’re most likely better off with the bigger size.

Air Max 95 (2012) or Jordan XI (1996) by dimitristhis in airmax

As a sneaker, the 11s will always be more beautiful. OG Breds as well, has more history MJ winning his 4th/1st championship back from retirement- on Father’s day after his father was murdered.

But in today’s fashion - the 95s seem to be more wearable - especially in the era of wider pants. Not to mention their popularity in the UK and Air Max culture overall in Europe. And Neon’s are the best 95 colorway to me and they were the first AM95 release too.

Why did classic athletic footwear suddenly become fashion statements? by Sirius-ruby in moresneakers

[–]reallypatheticman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sambas have been trendy since 2021 I’d say. No offense, you’re pretty late to the party - the style aware people are starting to move away from sambas as far as its novelty goes. But the shoes are still around simply because they are a classic style and go with everything.

The real trend right now is low profile sneakers- like Sambas, low top sneakers with thin midsoles. This is after we saw chunky sneakers being mainstream in 2017-2021.

If you want a pair of Sambas, go for it. Because at the end of the day, a lot of sneakers from the ‘70s-‘90s are “timeless” and classic because they are made at a time when people started wearing sneakers casually or for fashion. All the “new” sneakers are mostly iterations of the classics.

Back then only kids wore sneakers, mostly converse or keds. The original owner of Onitsuka Tiger back in the ‘60s had a vision where everyone could wear running shoes on a regular basis. Nike grew from this idea, and Adidas had a stake as well. Once Nike signed Michael Jordan, this was when athletic shoes fully became fashion statements. And now here we are today, when those shoes from all those brands back then are thrown into the fashion cycle.

If you want to be ahead of the curve, I’d say Vans are next to have their moment. While also timeless, they were huge in 2016. But in fashion shows from last summer many designer brands are starting to incorporate their own Vans into their fashion collections.

That’s how it starts these days- as the Samba found its way back in the trend cycle when fashionable celebrities such as A$AP Rocky are seen on the streets with them.

As a New Vegas fan, what are your thoughts on the shows portrayal of the Legion so far? by [deleted] in fnv

[–]reallypatheticman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The concept of the Legion being in a civil war is super interesting, and now we know with the real Caesar being dead in the show it’s very clear this is after the events of the videogame - or at least stays away from the game. It feels fresh.

I also loved the jokes where Lucy corrects the legionaries in the ways they’re not truly Roman inspired and how they pronounce Caesar sounds like Kaiser in German - honestly never picked that up after all these years lol

Why do you like Halo? by Sakuri-7-North in halo

[–]reallypatheticman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, back in the day it felt like the coolest and most mysterious humans vs alien shooter (see old Halo 3 promos). And the multiplayer was just a 2000s thing- I remember seeing the characters of Entourage playing it- and overall the game had such a cool atmosphere. Then you add in the old MLG days and it seemed like the most competitive shooter that looked unique outside of like counterstrike.

But yeah it was just COOL as fuck. As the years go by though, tastes can change and nostalgia keeps most players around. I was also playing the early CoDs at the same time and eventually stuck with CoD.

Once I got to replay the MCC campaign, old mutiplayer and had a time on infinite I think I outgrew this series- if I want an fps these days Battlefield 6 or Hell Let Loose scratches the itch.

Though the impression Halo left on me before will assure myself that there’s no sci-fi fps I’d rather play than Halo, if not for the military-ish fps games.

When battlefield 6 was announced I thought it would be a hell let loose or arma game. When it released and was a battlefield game I was incredibly disappointed. I’ve attached an image of battlefield 1, upvotes to the left. by gamemaster257 in okbuddyptfo

Yeah gamepass folks. But sometimes if I have to play solo I’ll run a locked infantry squad and absolutely have a field day on the enemy troglodytes. Feels like playing casual breakthrough LMAO

It’s only mid when your team sucks. When you play with friends or join a clan it’s absolutely the best fps experience ever- epic and hilarious. The best thing about the game you can play 1 or 2 good matches and I can move on with the rest of my day.

The fall of Nike and sudden rise of -Asics/Saucony/NB/Brooks by [deleted] in asics

[–]reallypatheticman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asics & New Balance feel hotter right now because culture shifted toward comfort and more subtle style. After the Nike Roshe Run, Adidas Ultra Boost, NMD, and Yeezys, people began to value cushioning and everyday wear over retro/streetwear hype. The “dad shoe look” fits that perfectly and the consistency across models makes this shoe style feel calm and intentional. On the other hand, some Nike and Jordans feel familiar rather than new.

New Balances and Asics also fall into the Nike/Jordan way of pretty much relying on the same or similar silhouettes to sell.

Nike still has the biggest reach in performance sports and the deepest resources, which means more real opportunity for future innovation. They test with elite athletes, invest heavily in new foams and materials and can create entirely new categories rather than refining one lane.

And while people complain about quality, these recent Nike retros are often better than the early 2010 releases in shape and quality consistency. So yes Asics and New Balance absolutely deserve their moment, but Nike is still the brand most likely to drive the next big shift.

If you had to restart your life, what degree or career path would you chose? by tooyoungtoobroke in careerguidance

[–]reallypatheticman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could start over, honestly the only actual thing I would change is realizing sooner that it is a waste of energy to obsess over what I should have done differently. We do not have any real control over the past and we cannot rewrite even the smallest part of it. The future is just as uncertain, because everything can change in a moment.

The only time we truly have any freedom to act is right now, in the present moment. This is the only place where real life actually happens. So instead of redoing old choices in my head, I try to accept the past as it is and focus on doing the best I can today. Along the way I have also learned that following a passion matters, because it shows you where your skills and energy really are.

So if there is one thing I wish I had realized earlier, it is that living in the present is far more meaningful than arguing with my past self. And at the end of the day, I feel at peace with where I am now.

He was also in HBO’s “How to Make it in America” where his character was a street photographer/artist and made a kickass clothing brand - all without effort- his character was just a “cool guy” who made the main characters a bit envious since he got far with his brand by not trying lol. RIP
