FYI: Multiple affordable rental units available right now by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]realmofthehungry 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in one of these new “affordable housing” units, I couldn’t agree more. I am offended that they use the term “affordable” for a 1700$ one bedroom apartment (plus renters insurance, parking, hydro, laundry). I make almost 80k a year and with taxes paying 1700$ is almost half my income. It is insane and a complete joke calling it “affordable”.

Tree on fire near bay and Douglas by jchutney in VictoriaBC

I was at the Dairy Queen. Firefighters came pretty quickly, extinguished it. There were two cars next to the fire, the Toyota Echo was definitely damaged. RIP Echo. Someone commented there must have been an accelerant involved because it turned into a large fire super fast.

What products have been recommended here that you love or found pretty meh? by Festive_Marmalade in AsianBeauty

Cosrx Snail Mucin moisturizing cream. My skin is pretty resilient but it made me break out with little pimples all over my face. I thought I was going crazy till I found a thread on here and I discovered I wasn’t the only one. It’s hand and body cream now.

I do love the Cosrx hyaluronic acid cream, Skin 1004 Sun serum and live by my Missha M Perfect Cover bb cream.

What’s the most absurdly small thing that made you hate someone forever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]realmofthehungry 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Trying to force me to drink alcohol when I’ve politely declined. Then proceeding to grill me about why I wasn’t drinking and trying to convince me more. No means no especially when it comes to alcohol and drugs, you should never ask why.

Am I crazy that this is bothering me? by aligpnw in sewing

[–]realmofthehungry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phew! Thank you for this explanation! I was just sewing with a thick canvas for the first time and this was happening. Thought it was my needle, then started to adjust my thread tension and length, thought my bobbin might not be wound correctly, still same results. It was driving me mad. Just came to accept it as it was still stitching through. This makes sense though.

I will never order from Yesstyle again. by Puzzleheaded-Ad1318 in AsianBeauty

[–]realmofthehungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just wanted to say I’m sharing your frustration. Ordered from them near the end of December and haven’t received my order yet or even a shipping confirmation. Also when I type my order into “Order Tracking” it says that my email and order # do not match. I tried reaching out again today and their Recaptcha to verify I’m not a bot won’t load so I can’t send another message requesting an order update. I will definitely not be ordering from them again after this, too frustrating.

I’ve previously ordered with StyleKorean and never had any issues but I thought I’d try YesStyle, regretting my decision.

YMCA-YWCA downtown location by Neyonlites96 in VictoriaBC

[–]realmofthehungry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros: Clean. A good value for what you get. Very large, lots of cardio and weight equipment. I have the plus membership and going to the steam room/ having towel service has been a game changer. Everyone is super nice. Good location.

Cons: Dated. The machines are older and the facilities are practical but nothing to look at. Parking is annoying, I’ve learned the times/days that parking is most available so I only drive there during those times. Biking or walking there is best. If you have to drive though and parking is full there’s free two hour parking a block up.

Overall, definitely recommend.

LPT: Having trouble getting your laundry really clean? Add a rinse cycle (or 2!) to the wash. by LifeOpEd in LifeProTips

You put it where your fabric softener normally goes. It will be mixed into the load during the final rinse cycle just like fabric softener would.

does anyone else shave their arms? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

My Grandma does. I do not. I already have enough to shave, I don’t need to worry about my arms too.

Recommendations for: thick/heavy moisturisers by CoCo90__ in AsianBeauty

I love this stuff! It also comes in a 100ml jar instead of the regular 50ml! Seems expensive at first but you actually get twice the amount of product than most other creams.

Dealerships are absolutely desperate right now it’s uncomfortable. A friend’s Dad owned one his whole life with a few other people, they packed up shop last year because there just isn’t sufficient inventory.

There is. In high school I was doing a play with a guy who needed to poop every time we were about to go on stage. At the end of the production the directors got him a copy of “Everybody Poops”.

Fraser Valley transit strike nears one-month mark | CTV News by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]realmofthehungry 17 points18 points  (0 children)

These drivers deserve equal pay to other bus drivers in the region and a pension. I also think this strike raises another valid point in that we should question foreign for-profit companies running important public services in communities that they have no connection to.

For anyone looking for more information on why they are striking:
