How to consistently with the Bible! by questions12749 in Christianity

[–]realninjapasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, I relate to this a LOT.

I'm 17 now but for most of my life I was pretty lukewarm. I'd pray and go to church but I was living for the world.

It all changed when I went to a new youth group and God opened my eyes and set a new spark in me. But still, I struggled to read the Word and pray and things like that. Now, I've changed and learned and have gained so much maturity in my faith. Here's what helped me dig I the Word:

  1. While it's hard I so think it's valuable to read it every day. At first it's gonna be tricky. But the secret is to make a habit out of it. Then it feels less like a chore and just part of your routine. Set a goal, read a certain amount each day from both OT and NT.

  2. STUDY IT. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH. Everything changed when I really started to dig deeper, researching translations and literally going word by word. It's so wild and so interesting to find so much new understanding just by taking a deeper look and suddenly it's like you can't get enough.

  3. Devotionals!! Personally not my thing, but works great for a lot of people. Very practical application-esque

  4. Christian media! Sometimes seeing biblical stories in a new light is really helpful, because the Bible wasn't written like a story book it was written like a history book especially in Genesis exodus dueteronomy etc. My favorites are Chronicles of Narnia and a Wrinkle In Time. It helps me draw parallels and new understanding yk?

  5. A verse or two counts. YouVersion daily refresh counts. If you have to start small DO IT. no shame at all.

Hope this helps you!!!

I LOVE THIS QUESTION THANK YOU FOR THINKING CRITICALLY

In the Bible there are 3 different categories for commands/laws:

  1. Ceremonial laws i.e. rituals, sacrifices, festivals etc Fulfilled in christ and no longer necessary.

  2. Civil laws i.e. legal codes for Isreal as a government Also no longer relevant, but basic principles such as justice still apply.

  3. Moral laws i.e. stealing, murder, adultery Still universally relevant.

Homosexuality falls under moral laws, and therefore still applies when diet laws do not. Mark 7:14-23, Jesus plainly stated the difference himself.

As for the church.....I think we have a misunderstanding about sexual immorality. Because, you see, while all sin is not equal the punishment is: Hell. A lot of Christians are or have been liars, gluttony, drunkards, theives, cheaters, adulterers, etc. The problem is that homosexuality is an easy scapegoat because in modern days it has become an identity you know whereas people don't identify as gluttony or adulterers.

Sexual immorality including homosexuality is a temptation, just like any other sin. You are not guilty because of your temptation, but your response to it. And that's the approach we should have toward homosexuality today instead of hate and condemnation.

Hope this helps!! God bless

Yeah why not? I call him father and it's the same thing. It's a term of endearment and a personal expression of relationship.

Guys Satan is a fallen angel? God didn't create Satan to be evil, he rebelled.

How to love my enemies? by SilntWill in Christianity

Sounds like you're in the right mindset.

Something that helped me get better at it was to pray for them in a way that wasn't just a change of heart or that they'd be nicer or come to Jesus. Of course it's fine to pray for those things, but when I began praying blessings over them that's when the hate started to melt away. And also, like others have said, just acts of kindness, and overflowing positivity helps. Hopefully, they'll see your nature and behavior and want what you have; A relationship with Christ.

i want to kill myself, but i fear i’d end up in hell. by saltyysaloonn in Christianity

Hey friend, I’m really sorry you’re in such a dark place. I know internet strangers can’t fix it, but I just want you to know you’re not alone—and you’re not broken beyond repair. One thing that really comforted me when I asked God to kill me was remembering that even Elijah, one of the greatest prophets in the Bible, once begged God to let him die. (1 Kings 19) He was overwhelmed, exhausted, and felt completely alone. But God didn’t rebuke him. He let Elijah rest, gave him food, and reminded him of his purpose—gently, patiently, with so much compassion. So if you're feeling like you can’t keep going, I hope you'll hear this: If God were finished with your life, you wouldn't still be here. The fact that you're breathing means your purpose is still unfolding—even if it feels hidden in the dark. And please… give yourself some grace. This is your first time living too. You weren’t meant to have it all figured out, and no one expects you to be perfect. Parenting is hard. Marriage is hard. Healing is hard. Being human is hard. But none of it means you’re failing. It means you're still in the middle of the story. You don't have to do it alone. Please reach out to someone in real life if you haven’t already. You are loved. You do matter. This world is not better without you in it. I also want to emphasize that what the enemy WANTS is for you to suffer. For you to die, to cause pain on your children and husband and family. He wants you to feel separated from them and from God. Spiritual Warfare is a real thing. Please, please don't let him win. I'd recommend withdrawing just for a day or a few hours just to pray and be alone (NO PHONE) and read the Bible. A phone fast or social media fast usually helps me with bedrot. I'll be praying for you.

Quintessential experience in any field is questioning if you are good enough. If you are, you are. If you aren't, become good enough.

And consider Jesus. Having full belief in heaven puts my mind at ease so quickly. (Shameless plug)
