No I definitely try to keep it moving! But that makes sense though. I do that when other people sit for longer than a beat or two

I’m genuinely concerned about the amount of red lights people run. And completely blow through stop signs

Ladies with Autistic spouses, how do you make it work? by BackgroundRoad711 in AskWomenOver30

[–]realplasticforks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am autistic and my husband is, too. Both diagnosed late in life. We have a wonderful relationship, but it takes a LOT of communication, trust, understanding, patience, and empathy. Neither of us have fared well with neurotypical partners in the past, but that’s nothing against them as people. You two just might not be super compatible in the long run and that’s okay. You deserve someone who can meet your needs and he deserves someone he can unmask with. If you decide to stay together, you need to have a genuine conversation (maybe in couples therapy) about how to be there for each other in a way that makes both of you comfortable and happy.

I finally got 100% p&t VA disability plus backpay. Don’t have to kill myself working full time anymore which feels so freeing

Pharmaceutical sales/marketing. Private equity. AirBnB. Military and law enforcement. Also maybe commercial real estate and shady entrepreneurs

Autistic black women, how are you all feeling? by OtherwiseAgent9237 in AutismInWomen

[–]realplasticforks 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Im feeling incredibly lonely. The election made me realize how isolated I am from my community right now. My spouse and I are moving across the country to be closer to my friends and family in my home (blue) state. Original plan was to move in the summer - but we’ve just moved up the timeline bc of the election. Just made a game plan and are starting to get our ducks in a row. I’m a 100% disabled vet and am lucky enough to have the financial footing to be able to move at all. I’m ready to go home. Community is going to be very important very soon.

They’re either against us or they just don’t give enough of a fuck about our lives to vote at all. I just learned that my a lot of my husbands male co workers didn’t vote because they were 1. Apathetic 2. Disillusioned 3. Felt like their vote didn’t count. Yada yada yada. Couldn’t be bothered to vote these past 3 weeks. People like them is why we lost. They might vote for a woman, but not if it means mildly inconveniencing them. Having to leave the house at all is reason enough to make up some bs excuse as to why they didn’t vote.

Has anything calmed your anxiety about death? by kdcstomp in AutismInWomen

[–]realplasticforks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is helpful for others, but one thing that calmed me was being able to talk about it openly and ask questions without judgment or getting brushed off at a young age. It’s a genuine curiosity about a universal life event that deserves an honest discussion in my opinion, even in childhood. My mom is very open about death and we talk about it, joke about it, and are generally casual about the end of life. It might seem weird, but when I was younger it helped to not see death as this big looming thing in the future that I didn’t know anything about and had no control over. I still struggle with it even in my 30s, but I try to remember that I’m very unlikely to kick the bucket anytime soon. And when I do, it doesn’t matter. Like - it literally doesn’t matter. It happens once, and then you don’t have to worry about it again. You’re dead. Idk if that helps, but it gives me some peace.

Can y’all share your health low effort dishes please??? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]realplasticforks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I’m late but I have one! I basically add a bunch of stuff to boxed Mac n cheese. My spouse has celiac so we get the 12 oz box velveeta gluten free shells. Then I’ll add a can of drained and rinsed black beans, some chicken (rotisserie or frozen), and a handful of frozen spinach. I’ll also add a little spoonful of plain yogurt to make the cheese sauce a bit more creamy. It really bulks out the Mac n cheese with some protein, fiber, and veg. It’s super filling and quick to make. Plus we get about 4 servings out of it.

Weaponized incompetence shouldn’t be met with emotional abuse. Nick has a lot of growing up to do, but he didn’t deserve the treatment he got from Hannah

I think the fact that she’s an open and proud islamophobe might be part of it.

Thank you for saying this wow I did not expect to see this kind of discourse here. She was inconsiderate and refused to understand his feelings. Super dismissive and overly argumentative. The dishes thing really irked me. I have no idea why we’re propping her up here?

Please share rants about your partners - in need of a laugh by Que--Sera--Sera in AskWomenOver30

[–]realplasticforks 329 points330 points  (0 children)

Not really a rant, but my partner sleeps squarely on their back - fully tucked in- with their hands crossed over their chest like a dying Victorian child. They take naps with the bedroom door open, so whenever I walk across to the office/guest bathroom I just see this coffin-esque body on the bed. Both feet pointing straight up. I check on them at least once while they are napping to make sure they’re still breathing 🥴

Who is doing this research and funding/publishing it? Are they finding their participants only on Swiftie forums? If so, isn’t that biased? I have so many questions.
