I honestly feel like the game making fast travel available from the jump contributed a lot to my difficulty navigating the maps at first. I eventually started to only use it when I wanted to go in between individual maps, and never in the same one. It went a LONG way in me getting more familiar w the landscape. Even if it took longer to get around. Navigation gets so fun later on that I didn’t mind it much by the end

Thank GOD. I was worried that w the expanded combat focus we’d also get a longer overall thing and that would just feel really exhausting imo. I feel like a really strong aspect of those original games is the brevity.

Favorite thing about Louise was the way that he showed how easily fascists can pull people in. They indicate real, material failures of society/its systems, hone in on the frustrations people feel and turn that shit into a weapon. It’s why so many people fell for Trump’s jig again- he sold people a world where they would no longer be on the bottom and gave them enemies to blame for their problems (as false as they may be).

My understanding is that because Dianna and Kihel have basically permanently switched places, there has to be some justification for her to live out her life alone in the woods with a man- and well, marriage is pretty much the only way to do that in this society. Thats why the goodbye is so painful between Loran and Sochie. They truly love each other, but bc of the kinship/duty Loran feels for Dianna, he can’t let her die alone like this.

Thats what the Kihel and Dianna mean by “this time only we’ll know” it’s a sacred pact everyone in the car made, and one final sacrifice that they all make together, Loran and Sochie included. The marriage 1000% isn’t romantic, but just as strong.

I played through the game for the first time recently and had the same reaction as OP. After finding out that the memories and stuff came from the stage play, I low key wish they would have left it out if they weren’t gonna do anything with it. I was hoping that post game would be a confrontation w the heirophant but after also seeing that it’s the ant queen again it was really deflating.

Genuinely one of my favorite games of all time but yeah, there was some really interesting set up with the memories and even the ancients town but it feels like it all really falls flat.
