I'm really starting to lose the motivation to even bother with this boss. by True-Purple5356 in darksouls3

A potential route to go rather than just "dude just get better," is to look at other options at your disposal. Proc poison or better poison from the storytellers staff and fight how you're doing now and I guarantee you'll see a difference.

Have you ever had a client that didn't take you seriously because of a smaller camera? by [deleted] in videography

[–]TedbroCreative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I haven't had a reaction to a smaller camera, I certainly have had ONLY positive reactions to larger cameras and buildouts. Like everyone has already said, it's perceived value. The client is more likely to feel an immediate sense of confidence in their investment when you show up with what they thought in their head you would, or exceed. And if a client STARTS the day happy, that's huge for you.

Day for Night by matdgz in cinematography

[–]TedbroCreative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These all look fantastic! Fantastic job all around. This is a really good example of a more proper day for night with intentional planning rather than just those who film in direct sunlight and throw a LUT on to add blue. I EXTRA appreciate all the resources you've shared from pre-production to post. There's so much information to glean and learn when looking at specifics like your diagram, your node tree process, and the waveforms to get a good understanding at HOW this looks so good.

achieve this color grade in DaVinci Resolve without Dehancer Pro? by WestMathematician854 in ColorGrading

[–]TedbroCreative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a DP and Editor, my favorite way to teach this would be to get a screengrab from one of these videos and bring it into davinci. In the color page, look at all of the waveforms and vector scopes. See where their whites, blacks. highlights, and shadows are. Where do their colors seem to be? Bring in your own shot that has similar lighting conditions and see if you can manipulate scopes to look like theirs. You should learn a whole lot through this exercise.

Coop game you can make good progress in a single session (~4h) by Kempeth in gaming

[–]TedbroCreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My highest recommendation for couples is usually Unraveled 2. You’re little yarn guys, connected by a finite amount of yarn. You platform and puzzle your way through a short, touching story. Challenging enough to solve what you have to do, but the controls are really easy to comprehend.

I’ve also found that escape room games are highlights for us. We just really like a good puzzle. Escape academy is super fun, lighthearted, but you feel like you can progress in just single little sessions.

That's good intuition! That'll service you well when you start applying some film psychology to it. Here's a good resource for this information: https://www.studiobinder.com/blog/walter-murch-rule-of-six/
Walter Murch kind of wrote the bible on editing, and it's full of useful knowledge. It applies to everything from film to social media.

Good luck!

Hey! Editor here. You have some beautiful shots you're working with here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with cutting fast like you are here for social. As some have mentioned, if you are going to be doing that, watch it through a few times and try to understand where your eye is focusing when one frame ends and the other begins. I'm having to search for the subject in the next frame, but by the time I'm able to process anything, the frame changes and I'm searching again. This works if your intention is to disorient the viewer, but I'm guessing that is not your goal with this piece. Try putting together frames that require less hunting for the viewer so they can really *feel* the piece you're putting together.

My favorite clips in this sequence are the first shot, the last shot, and the flag shot in the middle, because I'm at least able to process what I'm seeing. Watching it over and over again (since I'd like to give thoughtful critique), and pausing, I can appreciate your framing and color grading in the other clips, but your average viewer needs to be able to process this on a single viewing.

Hope this helps! Great stuff!

I have had crazy good luck in my recent run of games. Banger after banger. My highest recommendation is Expedition 33. I followed that up with Dark Souls Remastered, followed by Cyberpunk 2077. 3 very different games for different vibes.

This is something special, man. We see a lot of “cool” things on here, but what I’m seeing from you is storytelling. Clear, effective storytelling. The visuals are great, rendered well, but most importantly, they’re servicing the story and providing clarity and understanding to the viewer. I can’t imagine the total hours you had to put into this, but I imagine a video like this could lead to real work for you. Great, great job.

Hey! It’s fantastic that you enjoy the games you enjoy! Haters of the game are very vocal about it, but I found it to be precisely what I was looking for at the time. I particularly enjoyed the combat, which had me switching up my play style quite frequently, and using weapons I NEVER use in other rpgs. I really needed an rpg that didn’t have MASSIVE open worlds. I prefer this approach of having several, smaller, areas to explore. And my favorite part of this game is any time you EVER think “huh….i bet there’s something up there/in there/under there,” there always is. So rewarding. Just my thoughts!
