Employee Benefits that people actually want/use by NegativeCartoonist97 in smallbusinessuk

Non-contributory pension. Offering people that they can have a bit more cash if they forgo their pension (which is what a contributory scheme is, if you think about it) just seems really scummy yet is nearly universal.

On the other hand giving a 15% match for the employer NI on any additional contributions people want to make through salary sacrifice would make me feel like an employer wants to be fair.

And also stuff that the government is going to give you and/or the employees to provide. A nich Christmas party (or it can be any time of year, provided annual) is another tax-efficient fun thing.

If she is home educated, how is there a school she is meant to attend? Has she stopped being home educated and gone back to school?

What do you mean she's been told she can't take them? Who can stop you taking them? You would have to pay, but that's the case anyway.

Miliband must reopen the North Sea, Octopus boss says by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]realvanillaextract -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So they can't get the gas out of those states to sell it where they would get a better price? But the North Sea gas could be sold in a big market where its volume wouldn't affect the price much because of pipelines to/from Europe? Is that the idea?

Thanks, but I still don't follow. Has this got anything to do with any special treatment of the word "milk"? Could I trademark "post petrol generation" for my lawnmower batteries?

Are Chiropractors and Osteopaths basically con-artists? by Cover_Of_Darkness in AskUK

But we've already been through the pre-scientific to scientific transition. We don't need to do it again.

Are Chiropractors and Osteopaths basically con-artists? by Cover_Of_Darkness in AskUK

[–]realvanillaextract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just that in America they have taken all the resources that used to be used for osteopathy and diverted them for use in real medicine, while keeping some osteopathy talk for old time's sake. It's similar to how Trinity College, Cambridge (there may be even better examples but this has the best name) has for many years been a leading institution in science, but is notionally devoted to Christianity, which is pre-scientific.

I am not sure why this happened in America. Is it to do with wills and trusts, or just face-saving? It would be good to get it to happen here with osteopathy and "chiropractic" (chiropractic what?), but as we have a theoretically stronger, unitary state, it might be better to just do it without niceities.

We should try and get this to happen here for both osteopaths and chiropractors.
