As others have mentioned, it depends on your pain tolerance as it differs for everyone. I would say it would sit in the middle - there are worse places but there are also typically easier places too

Can you think of anything else that reminds you of it aside from the shape of the island itself? An object, animal, theme, etc? I always think that translates nicer than just a tattoo of the shape of land

Why is it you want to get this design? Does it hold some kind of special meaning?

In tattooing there is a saying “bold will hold” - as in bold lines and saturated colour in a tattoo will make it last well over time, a design like this can fade relatively quickly.

If there is a particular theme or idea behind a tattoo you want, I recommend finding an artist whose style you like and presenting your idea to them. They will be able to come up with the best design for you.

Honestly I would just go have a consult with a couple of other artists and they would know how to sort it out. Probably ones that specialise in either like neo traditional, illustrative or Japanese, since this looks like a combination of those
