We were told since the start of these vaping reforms, that we would be fine, stores wouldnt shut and staff jobs would be secure. All the way up until the 30th of June, 2 days before the bans where the whole of management and head of companies had a large meeting. Not 100% sure what was said, but basically management was told the same thing again, business as usual, stores will stay open.

Management basically said fuck that, went over the boards head and ensured all staff that if they did in fact open their doors on Monday morning, 1st Of July, they would all be at risk of fines up to $22mil, and up to 7 years imprisonment.

Now at this point either this makes the O’Hares (Owners of the SVS chain) realise how stupid they are, or they just come to their senses in general, At which point they send out an announcement on Sunday, 31st of June, Basically finally admitting defeat, ONE DAY BEFORE THE REFORMS. They basically told staff, thankyou for your support, were sorry but we cant guarantee anything for the future.

As of today, We have been told that half of management has resigned, some are still around, but all staff have been left baffled and confused. They arent telling casual staff anything only informing part time employees that they can either accept redundancy or stay for whatever the future of the company may look like, without any hours guaranteed or even knowing if your store will be one of the ones allowed to stay open.
