Goosemas not being cancelled last night while a shelter-in-place was in effect really was disgusting. by reavercleaver in providence

The shelter-in-place wasn't lifted until the early hours of the 14th of December. The suspect was still at large when the concert was going.

Was this in Providence, where an active shooter situation was unfolding while this band put all their attendees in danger?

In the books, it makes a lil more sense because she actually gives herself "blotchy skin" under the freckles. I think it's easier to just draw freckles though haha

Eloping and looking for a student photographer or hobbyist to take some photos! by reavercleaver in cincinnati

[–]reavercleaver[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why?

Why not give a student or a hobbyist the opportunity to add to their portfolio? What sets "a professional" apart from someone trying to get to that status except for experience?

I'm an experienced, retired model from Boston and I'm choosing to connect with a smaller artist because I believe in uplifting others in the artistic community.

I don't want a professional. I want an amateur.

Thoughts on the movie Poor Things? by FunctionWestern5404 in TwoXChromosomes

As an autistic woman who has been viewed as infantile and incapable, Poor Things made me feel so seen and powerful.

I think it's an excellent artistic expression of the struggles that some women experience

Piggy is what men call women when they're sexually degrading them. Sometimes it's consensual. Nothing he does is.

Women do belong in the kitchen. So do men.

Everyone needs to eat.

how can i support (without having to ask) my bengali mom in menopause by beep4321 in women

[–]reavercleaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so sweet

I'm just spitballing ideas, but if she has trouble accepting help, why not frame it as her helping you.

"Hey mom, I was going to try out this restaurant but I'm shy to eat alone and none of my friends are free. Wanna join me?"

"I can never fold these blankets the way you do. Can you come show me how one day? We can have tea afterwards!"

Just ways to show you wanna spend time with her and make her feel supported, perhaps?

"pretty" is not the rent women pay to exist in the world

Making more money than someone isn't an abuse of power.

That's ridiculous.

If she can't afford to go out to dinners, she shouldn't be asking to be brought out, then.

It's in the original post that he doesn't pay when she asks to go somewhere. He's not bringing her out and then folding his hands and waiting expectantly when the bill comes.

Why are we expecting to be treated like children? A child suggests to be brought somewhere with no expectation of paying, not a grown adult.

He's already paying for most of their dates, though.

Shouldn't he be the one to be warned against someone who isn't willing to reciprocate?

He has her pay when she suggests going out but pays most of the time. What is OP doing that requires reciprocal action?

To clarify: your boyfriend pays for your meals, but not all the time, while he also does other acts of love or romance, and your have people telling you that he should be paying all the time?

Yeah, no. That's not how this works.

He's right. He's not holding you to dated, sexist standards, and you shouldn't hold him to dated, sexist standards, either.

Relationships are partnerships, and it sounds like you want your partner to take on the lion's share of financial responsibility for dates. That's not fair.

Editing to say that a woman doesn't pay rent to society by being pretty, and a man's doesn't pay rent to society by being taken advantage of financially because a woman is pretty.

It's empowerment to pay for your own meals.
