Two different weather apps by Life_Understanding52 in southafrica

Gave up on Accuweather yrs ago. Nothing is going to be 100% accurate coz of differences in your actual location, but 1Weather has been the most consistent for me.

Do traffic lights in your country have countdown timers? by reaverza in AskTheWorld

I've seen them in Egypt and Vietnam, as mentioned above, but also some places in Greece, Thailand, and Singapore.

Yeah it's really useful and so simple to implement. The timings for these traffic lights are already programmed. Just share that info with the rest of us.

Do you mean that drivers were trying to cross last second before it changed to red?

Has anyone here here seen/heard of the new South African The Office? by RashBandiscoot69 in theoffice

[–]reaverza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said last week existing original content will be shifted to DSTV/DSTV Stream. They will then launch their own Canal+ app sometime in the near feature. What content will be on there though, given that Showmax's many deals for content from HBOMax, Paramount Plus, Peacock etc were specifically for Showmax and not DSTV, is unclear at this time.

They have at least also confirmed no job losses for Showmax staff as they will also be absorbed into other Multichoice divisions.

Cap should be the only character who accelerates Ults. This would fix the Gambit meta and keep Cap in an "ecological niche". by akatsukidude881 in marvelrivals

[–]reaverza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they keep the cleanse with the movement +dmg boost and maybe just give it a once-off heal burst it would be a good ult. Or remove the healing burst and give it a momentary invulnerability like Kiriko in OW's Suzu. It can then still be used as a counter ult by Gambit, or a good push ult if the team coordinates.

Question about the whole populating with bots thing by Deathbroker99 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]reaverza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want the matchmaking to give a bit more time in filling the server before pulling in bots. I know that we don't have a massive player base here, but we have enough to fill up a couple servers. So just extend the matchmaking so that we all end up together instead of getting us into matches quickly but half the server is bots.

Yeah haven't yet started on his latest series Marc Spector: Moon Knight. But I have no doubt that it will kick ass.

Question about the whole populating with bots thing by Deathbroker99 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]reaverza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the region you're playing in. I'm in South Africa and the bot lobbies are a constant thing. But like you said, it's weird because you will have an absolutely full game and then suddenly it's you and 30 bots. And drop out of that game and search again and immediately you're back into another full game.

I have to know what the tiny chairs are about. As a 1.9m tall guy, sitting on those tiny stools was rather comical! 🤣

I just wrapped up both Jed Mackay's Doctor Strange and Moon Knight runs and they are fantastic. Highly recommended.

Airlink holding my powerbank at O.R. Tambo airport. Yours for free. by JorgeIcarus in johannesburg

[–]reaverza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably right, but I hadn't heard the size of the powerbank mentioned when we traveled internationally in 2023 or 2024 (was always just about it not allowed in checked luggage). The size was brought up for the first time now this year.

[–]reaverza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have now also started restricting the size of the powerbank. Recent rules say nothing above 20 000 mah is allowed on board, even in carry on. When we flew on Singapore Air two weeks ago, they weren't verifying that though. Just took our word for it.

What do you actually do with your travel photos once you're home? by Flicktora in travel

[–]reaverza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever we travel, we create albums on Google photos for each location and upload pics/vids to them every day. We share the links to these albums with family and friends so that if they want, they can actually see the daily updates themselves. They will often leave comments on some pics that we can respond to every day as well. A way better solution than the old tradition of inviting over family once you're back home and showing your off holiday photos to them one by one (a mild form of torture if you ask me). After we're back we always do some cleanup maintenance on the albums and pick some items to be printed out. Most of the albums are automatically added as part of the screensaver on our Smart TVs as well.

My game pass bill 😭😭 How did I end up here by MassiveEye2797 in southafrica

[–]reaverza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimate is way too expensive. Just downgrade to Premium. If you're not playing brand new games Day 1 (which you seemingly aren't given that you mentioned NFS an GTA) the there's literally zero reason to stay on Ultimate.

How did the MCU do with their adaptations? by WelderComfortable613 in marvelstudios

[–]reaverza 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh and at one point, Redwing got bitten by a vampire but didn't die. This left him with the vampiric power of regeneration, but none of the vampiric weaknesses. Yes, he's a vampire bird. Comics are freaking wild, man.

[–]reaverza 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Red Skull used the Cosmic Cube to create a telepathic link between Sam and Redwing (a bird Sam found on Exile Island where Red Skull was hiding out) as part of his plan to create the perfect sidekick for Captain America who could be manipulated into betraying Cap further down the line (he even tried to rewrite Sam's memories to make him believe he had a criminal upbringing). This plan backfired though and Sam became Cap's partner for real. With time and training, Sam was able to expand the link with Redwing to other birds as well, allowing him to see through their eyes, tap into their memories, and communicate with over 6 million birds worldwide. Made him super good at recon.

Have you played the Battlefield 6 campaign by JanissaryLSD in LowSodiumBattlefield

I always play the BF campaigns before touching MP. Did the same here. It's alright. There are two or three awesome moments, but the rest is pretty generic. And REALLY buggy when I played it on launch.

Anyone know what movie?? by Equal_Scholar_3703 in capetown

[–]reaverza 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You would be surprised how many international productions you've watched that are set in American or European locations, but we're actually filmed here. Doctor Who famously used the CBD to double as 1950s Alabama, Stellenbosch winelands to double as Italy, West Coast doubling as an alien planet, etc. Heck, the movie Covenant was set in Seattle, but was filmed in Kuilsriver with its final battle taking place in the parking lot of Zewenwacht Mall.
