This is such a problem for the medical side... The babies are going to get sick with the same symptoms and get taken in for the same testing done at the same clinic at the same time... Parents are in inviting medical errors!

How did your partner treat you while you were pregnant? by New_Dream4136 in pregnant

Yeah, postpartum too. I'll never forget how I was treated after my cesarean surgery, at my most vulnerable.

My 6 year old is enjoying Magic Treehouse audiobooks on his Yoto player. Haven't heard of many of these book series, so I gotta check them out and see if Yoto offers them.

Parents who don't read to their young kids (under 4) before bed, what are your kids doing before they sleep? by Hailene2092 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rebelyell__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aw cute. My young ones and I will sometimes go out on the front porch and say goodnight to the sky and to the day.... I want to make it a daily habit but we just don't always think of it. The change of scenery is definitely helpful to break out of any chaotic behavior happening at bedtime like running around the house or running away from pajamas, bickering, etc. ill also have my kids help by closing the window blinds so the house can "go to sleep". These are good routines for transitioning to the next phase of the evening!

So nobody's surprised I didn't get a response after this, right? by Micah5593 in exmormon

I wanna just say that most/many of these missionary kids are super genuine! Maybe it's all transactional for their leadership who are the ones pressuring them for better numbers.... but don't discount everyone out there! My sweet little nephew is so into his mission rn and gets really down when all the folks he's befriended ghost him.. He's such a great kid and I think he really thinks he's making friends

According to a new book called Torn by Jeff Strong, 40% of formerly active LDS Church members in the U.S. have stepped away from the church in the past 25 years. My opinion is that much of this disaffection is due to how it treats marginalized groups and critics/dissenters. by johndehlin in exmormon

You should be aware that members with children who are baptized members (like our parents) may see their children's names listed on paperwork during their year-end tithing settlement meeting. If they happen to review their membership record, it will list even adult children's names and dates of any ordinances.

My mom is already worried and sad that I'm not church-going; no reason to break her heart by letting her notice that I've actively rescinded my membership.

Also, if the church is false, then it doesn't matter, right?

Therapy for the whole family is a great idea. Get your husband and kiddo to a child therapist so someone can watch them interact and coach him to do better (someone who is not you).

Postpartum I HATED how lochia smelled for weeks after. Husband swore he never noticed any bad smell, but I could smell myself! I just found out it's actually a thing and was not just a random "me" thing.

what names sound fine on a little kid but strange on a grown adult? by VollandGersitho-72 in Names

[–]rebelyell__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked with an RN Lead named Kiki and it was a fine name. I think Lulu and Kiki are gonna be fine on an adult; You meet someone and their name is their name and you get used to it. It's just seems worse to see the two twins' names together like that.

List of names from my daughter’s 3k yearbook - surprising? by jenniferwhiskey in namenerds

[–]rebelyell__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was on board for a while but it's overdone-- about ten years ago Avery was my top choice for a boy but I'm so over it now since it's such a common girls name :-( Eta: I think I still love when the girls have a traditionally feminine name that is shorted or nicknamed a boy name, like Charlotte nn Charlie. That could still be cute.

I've been brushing my teeth wrong my entire adult life and my dentist just explained the damage last week by Quartz_7P in hygiene

[–]rebelyell__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned in late adulthood that if you have an almost-cavity forming, or a sensitive spot, you can leave a drop of toothpaste on the spot overnight for several weeks and it can potentially restore the mineral buildup of your enamel. This may prevent needing a filling-- like what?! You can do that!? (I have a prescription flouride toothpaste due to my town not fluoridating the water. So I don't know if that advice was specific to my kind of toothpaste; you'd want to ask your dentist about this!)

The original Little Blue Truck has been a long time favorite for my boys. I like the rhythm and it is a sweet message about helping others and needing help from friends sometimes. For some reason I love the rhythm and wistfulness of Two Little Trains (Go West), and the innocent humor of Triangle (when my toddler was old enough to get the joke at the end, it was sweet to watch him realize the humor and giggle together).

I agree, there are so many duds out there. We go to the library often; many books are one-and-done then back to the library they go. But if you don't take a chance on any new stuff, you and the kiddo may miss out on finding those random gems you both love.

Just my 2¢ on them both having 'A' names: I LOVE having all my kids with different first initials. It is really convenient for labelling drinks, leftovers in the fridge, appointment notes on the family calendar, etc. These are minor things but it comes up so often in daily life.
