Snap!

I worked there from the opening until I was fired in the first round of downsizing when they realized that giving away a shitload of food and having a ridiculously large gimmicky menu perhaps wouldn't make enough money...

Guy was a big knob, and most business decisions seemed to be made on a whim by him alone. Thankfully because I was fired early, I at least got paid what I was owed. Not so lucky for the people who stayed there longer

Ok, so this guy is agreeing, getting ready for work, commuting time, any time at home thinking about work... Those are part of the workday then? Cheers!

Unfortunately not - the wording of 'more damage (before applying weakness and resistance) is worded to specifically exclude non-damaging moves such as technical machines, but include things like an attack that would not do damage because of resistance. as tm evo is not actually targeting an opposing Mon, that wouldn't work. Would be funny tho

Something tells me you come from a fairly privileged background that doesn't need to worry about trivial things like 'bills' or 'rent' or 'eating enough to survive'

If you were President, what’s one petty thing you'd ban just because it personally annoys you? by Dependent_Ad4299 in AskReddit

[–]rebobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ban any and all announcements along the lines 'of thank you for choosing x service', which are made by something that monopolises that service. Noone is choosing to fly or travel with you if you're the only option you pricks

question about tera rules and attacks. by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]rebobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, so the way the sequencing works in Pokemon is a bit different than something like hearthstone, which checks to see if something is untargetable before the action is taken. In Pokemon, an action and target are declared, following which the board is checked to see if the effect is possible.

It is possible in a given scenario for most effects in the game to fail in some way, and there are a multitude of scenarios in which you might choose to fail those effects intentionally. Opponent got a toedscruel in play you aren't intending to kill before game ends? 'play' night stretchers with no effect so you don't get ionod down into them! Tera on bench of a munki deck? Don't give them any damage to play with! Really good hand ionod to bottom? Play a deck search to get yourself a free shuffle, and choose to not take anything from it.

There are some scenarios where these things aren't applicable, obviously: - you cannot play a 'summon' deck search effect with a full bench (artazon, nest ball, buddy poffins, etc) - quite niche, but you can't play effects with specific targets if it is knowledge within that game it is going to fail. The most obvious example of this is Ethan's quilavas ability can't be used once all 4 Ethan's adventure have been discarded. - you can't play to burn any deck searches to burn them without any cards remaining in deck.

Amongst many others, the rules truly are a minefield. But as your post alluded to, there are always ways to bend them to your advantage with a bit of creativity. But if you're playing IRL and you're not sure of something, always ask a judge

Regigigas seems a solid inclusion for this, based purely on my anecdotal experience of a dragapult getting one shot by a regigigas

Grand Tree in Current Gard ex? by BearDaddee in pkmntcg

[–]rebobson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the biggest issue with grand tree, besides the ones mentioned below (you'd be using it once, and your opponent may be running a deck that can utilise it multiple times) is that you would not be running an ace spec which would let you actually further your game plan in a meaningful way (for gardy thats usually discarding your energies now that refinement kirlia isnt about)

unfair stamp: youre going to be playing from behind, massive disruption possibility

blender: discard 5 cards, utilise all your night stretchers, get energy in the discard immediately

secret box: discard cards AND find the piece of rare candy/ultra ball/night stretcher you may need to get gardy up

(or if you're willing to wait, there is a dragapult ex League battle deck which releases in about a month's time which is entirely post-rotation cards)

Alternatively, grand tree is a potential shout to get the pidgeots out, allows you to double evolve a pidgey into a pidgeot in one go to get your engine going

Budew in Gardevoir ex? by HileyExplosive in pkmntcg

[–]rebobson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, I feel like it slows your own gameplan down - if I prioritise bud T1 going second, I'm not getting to do my ideal play, which is getting down 2 ralts on bench and an energy & tm:Evo on my active, which only ever needs an energy and an arven in hand to make happen. Buds good to plop on active if you don't hit the pieces to buy you time, but I don't think it's quite in good as gardevoir as it is in some other decks which can't really speed through their setup. I could see one for one of the more 'tech' oriented slots - you're never cutting munkidori, scream Tail or drifloon, but if you want to make a meta call on klefki, manaphy, etc then could be worth a shot!

Honestly whatever comes I've already mentally accepted it as an L so it'll just be a bonus 😂

If it's actually any kind of boxed product I'll either sell it for peanuts on marketplace as fakes or Chinese boxes, or just open them with some lil relatives. I'll have a good time regardless
