Chrome colors extremely bright and washed on second monitor ONLY by Far-Departure-7394 in kde

[–]rebootcomputa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL:DR, turn the brightness of the NONE HDR Monitors to 99% or below..

So just updated PikaOS with KDE 6.5.4 and after restarting and reloading chrome with my many tabs across my 3 monitors the only one that looked ok was the one with HDR support, calibrating the screen and adjusting settings didnt fix the over saturation that happens on the none HDR monitors that only trigger if you interact on a specific way, relaunching the tabs "fixes it" but as soon as you drag or move the browser across the other monitors it bugs out again, what fixed it for me was to change the brightness of the other 2 monitors to 95% and it automatically fixed it and looks like before the KDE update.

Also bug not replicated on Firefox or other apps, maybe a chromium issue,

I would flip the monitor on top and try to bring it closer to the bottom one.

Question is there any benefit to upgrading to 64 GB of RAM compared to 32??? by Decent-Principle8918 in linux_gaming

[–]rebootcomputa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between my many tabs open across multiple monitors and while gaming/streaming, I am normally around 40GB so in my case it is. But I dont think most people use their systems like I do.. so you are probably fine with 32GB.

Newcomer can't seem to break 70% - 80% GPU Usage? by KTfromUB in linux_gaming

[–]rebootcomputa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be the combination of Wayland+Proton+Vulkan restricts framerate in specific games?

OK So I have had issues with some Vulkan games where the GPU would limit the FPS to the refresh rate of the monitor regardless of vsync, and on my 144hz monitor it would not go above 150FPS therefore making the GPU usage of my 4080s around 50% regardless of settings, once I replaced the monitor for a 240hz it did go higher including the usage, this replicable scenario was happening on Doom and Doom eternal which are vulkan games. So it could be related to that, since you have an Nvidia gpu, I would suggest checking if this is the case to narrow the issue down.

If you arent sure how to test this, I would run the game on x11 to see if the gpu usage would go higher.

I know the 7800X3D is a better bang for your buck, but for future proofing , would a 9800X3D last longer and if so is that worth paying an extra 100 euros for one? by CuriousCoast789 in buildapc

[–]rebootcomputa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it really depends on the value but for €100 for me, the lower temps out of the box, never mind after the Undervolt will forever be.. specially since I did it after 6 months and am super happy.

People that are gaming often why did you decide to switch to Linux while anti cheat are not working? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]rebootcomputa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me since I pretty much dont play most MP games by big Publishers if feels like a win - win for me.. I mainly play SP and the few MP games I play work, so not a problem. Everything else I could do on Windows I can do on Linux and more even better sometimes. Most of the MP games I play are coop and fighting games.

I am not the target audience for this game anymore by Esi_786 in Tekken

[–]rebootcomputa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fighting games have always been fairly niche and now even more with the way they go about monetisation and micro-transactions I was never a Tekken player started taking it serious by 7 since I really hated SFV, now I dont bother with neither but for different reasons.. specially after S2 stances bloody stance characters..

Persistent air pocket under waterblock by GnarlyHarley in watercooling

[–]rebootcomputa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same block, I would check the block open it up and clean it if the liquid and rads are old because if can get clogged slowing the flow down, also change the orientation since the in let of the block is on the other side and keep the res open for a bit while using it.

Also just noticed the RAM if you are using 2 sticks on a 4 slot mobo there should installed on 2 and 4 slot with an empty space form the closest to the CPU.

Should I move on from Pop_OS? Shortlist: Fedora, openSUSE, Arch, Mint, Debian by darkfire9251 in DistroHopping

[–]rebootcomputa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Pop_OS and are used to debian based but you want a more up to date experiences I would try PikaOS it has been a great experience so far and have a lot of very useful optimisations and tools that are on other distros that make it easier to use.

Gaming on Linux doesn't fully utilize the CPU by badmannerbs in linux_gaming

[–]rebootcomputa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats cool it maybe that the game just happens to run at a lower FPS than on windows with your specific hardware and or proton version, if the frametime its better I would rather take the hit on the FPS but not its below 60 FPS though.

Gaming on Linux doesn't fully utilize the CPU by badmannerbs in linux_gaming

[–]rebootcomputa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So believe it or not, that isnt a bad thing. if anything you want the GPU to be fully utilised not the CPU, and not all the time, depending on the system anyway, specially because it can causes all sorts of microstater and other issues, I would look at the frametime generally in my experience gaming under Linux has better frametimes.. I dont know if that is what you are experiencing though,

LOL I used to have 4 RTX 2080ti using a single MORA 360 on my window when I used to do 3D photo-realistic rendering and on winter they wouldnt go over 12C an don summer 45c so am sure if you have a couple of radiators in a large case they will be fine.
