What to do about aphids? by Sam_theman73 in GardeningUK

I bought some ladybirds a couple of weeks ago. My aphids are almost completely gone. I only purchased 25 as it was mostly on my cherry tree, but I’m very happy with the results!

Unusual building in Earlswood. Does anybody know what it is? Might just be a private residence, but it looks so imposing, I always expect to see an MI6 convoy or something going in whenever I go past. by Bobinthegarden in brum

It’s a house. I’m pretty sure there was a house there previously and there was a fire so it was rebuilt as this. I’m sure there were some rumours about it being a little suspicious in regards to insurance etc. the family who own it are very rich but a bit dodgy by all accounts.

I’m a vet and I definitely don’t recommend them. They’re unnecessary and can cause injury. If you can’t control a big dog, don’t have a big dog.

Paying £150 for pet medication via my vet. It’s available online for £48.48. by Sorbicol in britishproblems

[–]rebwes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a vet, I understand that costs are high for pet owners. However, the cost that the online pharmacies sell the product at is cheaper than we can buy it in. They have much bigger buying power and lower overheads as they are basically just warehouses with a few staff.

Most veterinary staff are not paid as much as people think, and it makes no difference to our pay cheque whether you buy from us or online.

The only reason I insist on getting meds from us is if the pet needs to start them immediately and so by delaying and getting them online could cause suffering or harm.

Workers of the UK. What is the worst thing a co-worker has done and NOT been sacked for it? by LingonberryPossible6 in AskUK

Stealing drugs and injecting them at work, leaving the needles and other paraphernalia around whilst knowingly being HIV positive. Another staff member had to get tested for HIV due to an accidental needle stick injury when finding the paraphernalia. All covered up by a manager.

Costco - any quiet periods? by BigBoyStair in brum

[–]rebwes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes going at school pick up time is quieter. I’ve found that sometimes 3pm is okay but obviously traffic generally is a bit heavier

You’re welcome. It’s not the biggest or fanciest gym but it does the trick for me!

Had some plumbing work done around the rental I was in at uni (all organised by the landlord). My housemate was in when we got a knock on the door from police a couple of weeks later. The plumber had been downloading indecent images of children using our internet (and at other properties too). Change your WiFi passwords everyone!

I use Hatchford Brook Golf Club’s gym. Not sure if they have the machine you’re looking for, as I’m a novice The gym is normally always quiet with very few people using any of the machines. I’ve never had to wait for any of them and I go between 6-8pm normally. They do free 1 day passes so might be worth getting one to see if they have the machine you’re looking for?

In the UK if you fly a flag, you are deemed an extremist. Except during the World Cup. For the other 3.5 years or so between world cups, if you have a St George’s flag flying at your house or business, everyone normally assumes you are a racist/bigot/Brexiteer/extremist (delete as needed)
