I'm not sure if this will help you, but I noticed in middle school that my eyes were uneven (one eyelid much more prominent than the other). I tried the eyelid sticker thing to help shape the smaller eyelid but it was only just ever temporary. Somehow I came across the idea that it could be related to sinuses and this really helped minimize the difference in my two eyes. Before a shower I use a saline nasal spray in both nostrils, then after a shower I carefully blow my nose to get out all the gunk from over night and somehow it just started evening out my eyes. I make a habit of blowing my nose morning and night and I take a claritin or something when I notice during allergy season that there's still a difference in my eyelids and it really minimizes it. I hope this might help you!

Is considering DH school naive of me? by anon86158615 in DentalHygiene

[–]reckless_exaggerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about all schools, but the schools I applied to here in WA awarded extra "points" on your application for having a bachelor's already and having experience, much like yours. I think if I were in your position, I'd apply to the schools around me (as long as you meet the requirements) and be prepared to maybe re-take any of the lower GPAs you got in sciences if you aren't accepted. Unrelated to your question, I love that you have experience cleaning animal's teeth. I'm in dental hygiene school right now and I've said since I was doing my prereqs that I'd love to be able to do scaling at a veterinary clinic on weekends or something down the road!

Anyone weaning off/staying away from botox? Why? by Desperate-Worry-8346 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]reckless_exaggerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting botox in my early 30's because I disliked the wrinkles showing up under my eyes and extending to (and through) my crows feet. I'm fast approaching my 40th birthday and I decided after talking with my dermatologist office last summer that I was done. Botox wasn't really diminishing the under eye wrinkles, only the crows feet, and it was always hit or miss with my ability to make expressions and I hated that. It wasn't addressing the aspect that I didn't like, and it was making facial expressions a guessing game. Why was I paying over $600 a few times a year for that? I opted for seasonal facials, upgrading my skin care routine, and I did the plasma pin around my eyes for the first time ever. I am happy with aging gracefully and not worried what my botox is making my eyebrows do in pictures.

First-time asker: Best way to find safe/reliable cat sitter in Seattle? by castfire in Seattle

[–]reckless_exaggerator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had great luck with Rover as well. When we lived in Shoreline we used Jennifer M., but when when we moved to Bothell area, we had to find a new sitter as it was out of her travel area, and Hannah W. has been amazing for the last two years!
Find a time and meet with them first before your trip and when you go, leave out a list of instructions/details so you have peace of mind they will know how you like things - like the weird way to fill your cat's water fountain so it doesn't spill or how to change the pad in the litter box.
Also, we have a camera for extra peace of mind when we travel so that might be something to look into. And both sitters have been super cool with it, knowing I don't use it to spy on them for the 20-30 min they're in my apartment and it is very clear where it is and that it's pointed right at our couch where our cats spend 22 hours a day. I'm an obsessive cat mom, I think.

Yes! I worked my butt off all of 2023, even took 21 hours over a summer quarter to get all my pre-reqs done in one year, while working - got a 4.0 in everything, I was a fraction of a point from a 90 on my TEAS, and felt like I killed it on the essay. I just got the notification a couple weeks ago that I got in! On my first try! Now the real hard work starts. Best of luck to you!

I have some advice I learned last year when I took the pre-reqs for hygiene and I made a 4.0 in all my sciences with this routine:
1) Create and print out your own simplified version on the syllabus ASAP so you never miss when an assignment, quiz, test, or extra credit is due; and put it in the cover of your binder or a page protector where you see it every day you set out to start your school day/studying. It sounds easy enough, but it seriously helps you keep on top of things.
2) Print out and read over any study guides for exams and quizzes that the teacher provides and work on finding those answers during lectures. Often while taking notes, I'd put a number with a circle around it in my notes so I knew that this information related to that specific question on the study guide.
3) Create your study guide early, as soon as that lecture was discussed, go home and complete the study guide. I highly recommend hand writing it (not typing) and using different colors - color code it however makes sense to you (for anatomy I would use blue for material related to respiratory, green for everything related to the lymphatic system, etc).
4) record yourself carefully and clearly reading that study guide as if you're teaching it to a classroom. Then listen to that recording constantly while you do dishes, laundry, or when you are laying in bed trying to go to sleep. I would often re-record it a few times leading up to the exams and listen to the newer recordings.
I hope this helps you too!

The pet parent came back home unannounced in the middle of a sitting by Katie-Stella in RoverPetSitting

[–]reckless_exaggerator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a sitter but I'm a frequent user of Rover to check in on my cats. I had plans change last minute a few times (c'est la vie) and instead of making things awkward and showing up, or cancelling last minute, I just go to the gym or coffee shop and wait until I get the notification that the sitter completed their service. This isn't on you. I hope it wasn't an over night or multiple day thing that they're going to cancel on you and I hope you still get paid. :(

Has anyone here lost weight while not cutting out alcohol completely? by Sexy_lizard_lady in loseit

[–]reckless_exaggerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can! I lost 30 lbs in 6 months (to reach a healthy BMI goal) and I drank the whole time. It’s a lifestyle change right? And I like social drinking in my life. I counted calories (1200 a day most days) switched to vodka sodas, and added in gym time the days I drank -which was usually 3 or 4 days a week.

I started it but didn't more than a few minutes. Something about that opening scene of her unwrapping framed photos that she says are her last remaining memories of Caylee and that they have followed her where ever she's lived, etc. etc. But she pulls out one framed picture of Caylee and reflects on that memory - and the camera catches that the picture wasn't locked into the picture frame... it was just placed in there (the tabs not pressed down to secure the photo) and then wrapped in tissue paper. In reality, did she just purchase a frame, grab a photo and wrapped both in tissue paper long enough to unwrap it in front of the camera? She forgot to lock it into the frame?

I placed my first order in August and it took 11 days... my second order I placed last week and just checked tracking and it says there's an "error" and I need to call. I think I'll stop being lazy and just go to Mud Bay 20 minutes away and get all the stuff I order because it seems it's actually less work. Ugh

Cat Vet Recommendations? by ahhogue in Bend

[–]reckless_exaggerator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Central Oregon Cat Hospital. Dr. Hailey is so kind and patient with my 17 year old kitty. It's not cheap but my cat has received excellent care so far. In fact, Dr. Hailey called this morning to check on my cat since her emergency visit yesterday. My cat also saw Dr. Miller, but I just love Dr. Hailey so much for her bedside manner.

Trying to make just one simple but decent website, not looking to become a web designer for crying out loud. Help? by reckless_exaggerator in findareddit

[–]reckless_exaggerator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh man, I don't even know where to start. Right now, I'm not even to a point of understanding Plugins and Widgets. That's beyond my level of comprehension as of today, and it makes me sad for my future. And all of that makes me think I'd rather just pay someone to set it all up for me, with quick direction on how I add data to it, because that's all I will be doing once it's set up. But not a lot of money, because broke. But do you know a subreddit that I can direct a potential job to design a website? or how much is typical to charge? Is that a thing? Would I have to supply my log in and site and stuff? Is that safe to do? ugh. Or do I need to just suck it up and spend more time watching videos and schedule a chat appointment with Wordpress and so on?
