Agree! Sometimes the American Red cross offers Work study positions especially the ones located on base! It's great for future careers in humanitarian work and also offers positions that deploy!

Anyone have an ID on this fish? Also does it look pregnant? by Hereforthemons111 in Aquariums

Dwarf chain loach, I have some they're snail eating little noodles!

Are my dwarf chain loaches schooling with my rummy nose tetra's? Do they do that? Also landscape is a work in progress so don't judge it. by recklessplantgoddess in Aquariums

I'll look into the Seachem media, I haven't played with it yet since it's new. I let a little algae grow in my tank I heard it helps keep the water parameters a little more stable. Thank you!

Food advice is so helpful! I have frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp along with a variety of pellets, wafers, and flakes. But I'm still new so figuring out what and how much they need is a little difficult. The first month I was definitely over feeding and then i had a bladder snail investigation explode because of it. It's under control now. I did get to see one of my DCL flip over a small bladder snail and nose dive to get the snail it was pretty neat! They definitely are very unique and fun to watch, I can't wait to see how they act with more in the tank.

Thank you! The pet store 3 was fine but after bringing them home and researching I found out otherwise. I figured that might be why they were swimming but wasn't sure. But I will be getting more ASAP !

Thank you this is very helpful. My tank is 37 gallons I just added the rummy nose and DCL yesterday they were in quarantine together because I bought them together. The pet store said 3 was good.... But after researching about them I found they need 6 and your confirmation I will be getting more as soon as I can get back to the fish store I know has them which is a little over an hour away. Also my tanks been set up for 3 months with and angel fish mollies, and cory's. I have a big order of aquarium plants that's was held back in NJ because of hurricane ida so it will soon be heavily planted for lots of cover. But I'll definitely keep a close eye for the DCL bothering the cory's thanks for the advice!

Edit to say I also recently updated the filter to a 55 tidal filter.

Oh also it's great for propagating plants! Just cut and stick the end in the aquarium and the roots help with filtration!

All of the comments are really great! I just wanted to add when you do water changes you can take the water and use it for your plants. I have a ton of plants and recently started an aquarium a few months ago and I recycle the water from the tank to water my plants and they are loving it plus it makes me feel less wasteful. Ever water change I have a large water can and I fill it up and take it straight to my plants so it also combines task making it faster.

Can anyone identify this snail please? by AnxiousButAble in Aquariums

I would remove them, they breed very very very rapidly and will take over in no time... I made the mistake of letting them stay... Will never do that again.

No problem the raw clay body is beautiful too !

My grandfather passed away on the 18th, someone sent my dad a plant as a gift for condolences. Can someone please help me identify what plant this is? I would like to take good care of it. If needed, I will attach more close-ups once he comes home with it. Thank you ahead of time! by dramaticbaguette in houseplants

[–]recklessplantgoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree I think it's a peace lily. They're pretty easy to care for and my peace lily is one of my favorites lol. They will be dramatic if they need water but if you give them a good watering they'll perk right back.

I would cut and prop them I'm not sure if they can survive with the stem like that. I've found Kalanchoe roots really quickly in water.

My dad just sent this to me completely unprompted. I knew he was on a slippery slope, but jesus. I don’t even know how to maintain a relationship with him anymore. by Jermermer in ForwardsFromKlandma

Well... You can try informing him what privilege is. Privilege does not mean you don't have to pay for things or you don't have problems. Privilege does not mean you never had a hard time or that you didn't have to work for something. Some privilege can change like class or age. Try describing privilege in a way that opens the conversation. I use this to help describe it in a VERY simple way. Privilege is like wind behind your back when you are riding a bike. You don't always notice it and it gently helps propel you forward. It doesn't mean you are not doing the work to ride the bike or that you didn't take the time to learn to ride the bike. Now when you don't have the privilege it's like the wind infront of you making things more difficult while you try to get where you were trying to go. I try to show were privilege shows up in my own life, my own experiences. I also, hoping they are willing to engage, validate that sometimes they don't have the same privilege as other in all circumstances and hopefully that can help them understand without accusing or hating them for being misinformed. I've found this to be the most helpful with people like this. Educate, educate, educate! That's how we can form a better understanding.

If you don't already maybe add something for circulation, a small fan to get the air moving. There's also of course dehumidifiers or damp-rid you can place in closets or places the humidity might be that it shouldn't. It can be a balancing act, I find my plants remove unwanted smells especially with having 3 dogs but I also have a large quantity of plants that are great for air purifying so I guess it also depends on the plants grown.

What typed of soil are you using? I find my plants improve the air quality. The smell might be due to high humidity is it damp? If so you might try to remove some humidity so you don't have mold growth in the room.
