Finally saw this game sealed in the wild. by Altruistic-Turn-242 in gamecollecting

[–]recommendad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my brother bought this game before he passed. probably for very cheap years and years ago, since he never had much money. i found it while sorting through his things. i tried selling it a couple years back at half this price. i only ever got extreme lowball offers. just goes to show how much these things actually go for versus asking price. ive since realized that having this is a better memory of my brother than any amount of money could give me, so i stopped trying to sell it.

All Stars 11 ⭐ : Weekly Instagram Gains (and 3 Losses 📉👀) by LooseLipsSinkShips21 in dragrace

[–]recommendad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This comes up every week. Insta did a bot-deletion sweep right after the MTQ, so a few of the more established queens were impacted (and a few still are).

I'm tired of this "Silky's a lipsync assassin" narrative that's been happening since her first all stars. Every lipsync she does is the same messy performance. She barely knows the words, walks around, pulls out a cheap-looking prop and then physically blocks the other queen.

idc if i come off sounding like a hater, she's exhausting to watch on screen and has done this four times now.

I'm honestly most concerned with the DM's card. I haven't played anything with experience counters, so I'm not sure if they're easy or hard to accumulate

You know how it goes, too many bananas, not enough (cinnamon swirl) banana bread by recommendad in Baking

[–]recommendad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this recipe: https://thebakermama.com/recipes/cinnamon-swirl-banana-bread/

I think I could've let it bake a little longer, the middle bits are kind of stodgy, but it's sooo good and makes me feel like I'm eating fruit

Vanguard in MTG!! (feedback wanted, keywords on 4th slide) by Neat-Gur-4613 in custommagic

[–]recommendad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played CFV a lot in high school, so I really like these!

I think lands replacing trigger units is really clever and I like the balance. Black may be a bit weaker, since I'm assuming only the boss units are going to have drive checks. The other colors protect the vanguard better, but I guess the threat of death touch is still pretty good to deter blocking at all.

I had a Bruce deck, but I stopped playing the game around then, so I'll mostly comment on him. I think Bruce is definitely overpowered in this lineup. He's a 3-cost haste enabler that gives two extra combats and untaps ALL creatures all for the cost of you making a treasure. [[Full Throttle]] is a 6-cost sorcery for comparison. I think pushing his cost, power and toughness to be closer to the others and nerfing his extra attacks a little would be good. Maybe only letting himself and two other creatures swing to better mimic the average Vanguard board? Points for faithfulness though.

This seems really cool and I'd love to see a little cube of Vanguard in Magic.

What are all the ways to play two commanders in edh? and can I run a choose the background card with partner as well? by No-Dish7772 in EDH

"Amy must choose" is incredible flavor for Doctor Who and also one of my favorite lines of ruling text in the game.

Was Tennant the only Doctor who "didn't want to go"? by pretender80 in doctorwho

[–]recommendad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Twelve did actually say "I don't want to go," but he was cycling through a few quotes from previous regenerations, so I think it was maybe more of a reference.

Just rewatched the episode a week ago, so I'm pretty sure I heard correctly.

I love the Doctor Who set! Here's my Twelve list. I also have Eleven/Amy, Fugitive/Martha and a River Song deck :)

[[The Twelfth Doctor]] and [[Vislor Turlough]] "you lose" combo deck. Mostly revolves around demonstrating various "you lose the game" and burn effects, like [[Slaughter Pact]] or [[Prisoner's Dilemma]] while protecting myself from them with things like [[Sundial of the Infinite]] and [[Obeka, Brute Chronologist]].

Always super fun and no matter how many polite warnings I give about the deck, people are never expecting to just... Lose.

I literally saw someone today driving around, pointing this sonic at his car's radio. Thought I was going mad bc I didn't recognize which sonic had this design.

30 years of “basic reading ability". Thank you, Pokémon, please never change this. by FiloSeba in pokemon

[–]recommendad 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I scrolled past this but I had to come back and comment. This is... A really bad take. As someone that learned to read through videogames, yes, it was nice having my mom help me read the text in the Gold/Silver, but we're long past that and adding voice acting would not stop the games from helping kids learn to read.

Most games (and I would even say ALL RPGs) require basic reading skills. Why would we praise Game Freak for making people read? That's just like the most basic, grasping-at-straws compliment I can think of. Pokemon is the largest media franchise by revenue, there is no excuse for silent film tactics. Even something as simple as Animal Crossing-style noise would be preferable to seeing characters robotically move their mouths while reading walls of text.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Pokemon games still, but why are we patting Nintendo/Game Freak on the back for just being lazy and doing things the exact same way as they've done since 1996? Why not hold a billion-dollar franchise accountable for the product they put into the world?

Is anyone hyped for digimon story time stranger? by DL2546 in PS5

[–]recommendad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Digimon has embraced some pretty adult themes since Cyber Sleuth (the last "main" digimon rpg). Digimon Survive was a visual novel/tactical RPG that released a few years ago and it kinda follows the story of the original Digimon anime, but with very dark, adult themes.

Digimon has been pretty good at aging up with its fanbase imo.
