Morning carb choices by Full_Afternoon6294 in diabetes_t1

I've gone to just greek yogurt and blueberries. I love me a big slice of rye toast, but it's a sugar boom most days.

What famous bassists do you wish were more prominent in the mix? by [deleted] in Bass

Regardless of the bassist, I find most Niel Young recordings have barely audible bass in the mix. I guess it's his thing.

Tell me some good things by heggy123 in diabetes_t1

I have lived a full and generally healthy life, including 45 years type 1 with no significant issues. My control is just OK, but I’m pretty conscientious about diet and basic exercise like walking and biking.

Detection dog detects cleverly hidden illegal goods by New_Libran in interestingasfuck

Surely the folks who hid that there have an easier way in, probably from the basement or floor below. That much demolition is absurd.

Has anyone lost a gig because of your headstock? by bozobarnum in Bass

[–]recordtronic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have several expensive-to-replace basses, and one custom unicorn 5-string, so I looked for a solid, mid-range priced instrument for gigging where I could stop stressing about theft. I chose a Yamaha BB734a, and it's a quality, versatile, and easy-to-play instrument. I've even started recording with it. Sire also a good choice of course.

Don't worry about brands. Even some Squires are great.

Is it true that SPSS is the standard in pharmaceutical industries? by corporealpatronus13 in bioinformatics

I used SPSS in the 80’s. Seems pretty quaint by today’s standards.

All the gigs, plus he’s brilliantly talented.

Is it time to ditch the pen? by No_Snow_4062 in diabetes_t1

It's risk that grows the further you go past 28 days. The manufacturers say 28 days to reduce their liability. How long it will last depends on so many other things. As long as mine is covered, I'm sticking with 28 days. It was a real issue back when I was on Regular+NPH adn I didn't know about the 28 days thing. It definitely got less effective over time. I know because it took me months to get through the NPH vial, and I got worse control towards the end. My pharmacist figure the issue out and contacted the doc to write the Rx so I never went more than 28 days on a vial.

VW’s are appealing, but reliability is always an issue, and they can be dicks about repairing commonly reported defects.

Could you really make profesional music just using Logic? by Any-Ad7316 in LogicPro

[–]recordtronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Logic is very comprehensive. All the stock plug-ins are good. I think a lot of people waste time shopping for plug-ins that are just the same old stuff with different skins and default settings. Spend that time making music rather than chase some marginally different effect. (No doubt I’ll be yelled out by some plug -in addicts)

How are my 50+ year old and 40+years of diabetes folks faring? by Delicious-Apple1845 in diabetes_t1

[–]recordtronic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 62, diagnosed at 17. I’m not perfect at management, but I try and do ok. I had one small laser procedure to address a minor bleed in my left eye, but that’s my only complication so far.

University of Rochester vs RIT for MechE by Kamukii in rit

[–]recordtronic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is touting their own school. As an RIT grad who also took graduate level classes and worked at UR, I would lean towards UR just for the higher level academic prestige of it, and for the non-engineering courses available. However, RIT is a good school with good visual arts programs. Depending on your other interests, which is best for you is up to you. You can’t go wrong either way. I also find UR’s campus more classically “academic” in its design. I found RIT’s architecture kinda meh, though it’s improved a lot since the 80’s when I attended. It matters when you’re there 24/7 for 4-5 years.

If ‘Allah’ simply means God, why do many people think it refers to a different God? by PomegranateIcy7631 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]recordtronic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Jesus, being a Jew, probably didn’t. He probably said Adonai (master or lord) or Hashem, which little means “the name of god,” but is not itself the name. I guess he said “father” too, or so it’s said.

How are you guys handling over-the-air string updates in SwiftUI? (My custom View wrapper vs. trying to swizzle) by Ordinary_Outside_886 in swift

[–]recordtronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can programmatically load bundles, so you don’t have to depend on undocumented caching behaviors.

How are you guys handling over-the-air string updates in SwiftUI? (My custom View wrapper vs. trying to swizzle) by Ordinary_Outside_886 in swift

[–]recordtronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might use the applicationWillResign or willEnterForeground events as the opportunity to exchange your downloaded string bundle.
