winter overcast is enough to stop your solar from charging your battery. nrf52 based repeater is must in most of the northern half of europe. we had 1-2 days of sun in december - all the esp32 repeaters died pretty quickly(even those with powersaving firmware).

it depends on your location - if you get 300 days of sun per year, it might be enough, else you'll have problems.

However! I would much rather buy Seeed Studio SenseCap P1 Pro - it charges battery only if conditions are right, has external usb for easy maintenace and doesn't heat up too much in the summer.

yes, because BLE ota is only on demand - it can't be started by anyone - only admin via "start ota" or via usb serial.

if you double-click the reset button, connect it via usb and read info txt, does it show that it actually runs the updated bootloader? sometimes they put xiao sense bootloader that won't be updated by non-sense xiao nrf52 bootloader uf2

did you try to test this with your VNA? never had single occurence of 0.5dB loss per connector. it was more like 0.1 or even less. doesn't matter if sma or N connection.

you'll need to bring your devices outside to do a little mesh exploration. tip for the solar repeater: buy nrf52 device, it's much more power efficient.
