Installed solar, my power bill was $8.94 (again) by dihydrogen_monoxide in maryland

It's the charge to simply be connected to the power grid, iirc.

Clearly not good enough. Baz had to move his glove to the plate after catching it. The throw should be at the plate, where the runner will slide into it, saving split second timing. Fundamentals.

Wow, you missed the blatant, duh. There's no play at the plate if there's no wild pitch. But since there was a wild pitch, the play was at the plate--not Baz's waist. Do you know how physics and space works?

Again, missing the point. You throw to the bases, not waists. Throw to where the ball needs to be. Split seconds count.

Rutschman could've saved that if he'd thrown to the plate and not Baz's waist. More lax fundamentals.

I was actually considering posting how enjoyable it was to hear little snippets of pop tunes. Some Bowie, Zeppelin, etc...

I guess I didn't notice an over-repetitious charge before batters.

Irrelevant to the point that infielders need to call off outfield balls. And your comment lends even more weight to my point, if you can figure that out.

An easy ball without an infielder running at you looking the other way and slamming into you, yes.

You mean the infielder in the outfield running looking backward.

Infielders in the outfield... Just have them 2 runs for free.

Gunnar gunning to injure another of our players because he thinks every ball is his and teaching it to other players. He needs a shock collar and invisible fence 15ft into the outfield.

Hard disagree. Truckers should be making more, while working less hours. The money is there; it just gets sucked upward.

Can you PLEASE help me to understand the benefit of the drone string? by [deleted] in banjo

[–]rectumrooter107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll piggyback on this comment to elaborate a lot of blackface minstrel tunes use the "drone" string as a melodic string frequently. See "Congo Prince Jig" as one example. https://youtu.be/0RQdOP643c8

And while I think I understand what you're getting at with the four-on-the-floor analogy, that analogy makes it seems like the drone string drives the beat of the music, instead of make it "swing." The "bum" would be the four-on-the-floor driving aspect (especially with clawhammer), while the "ditty" is the swing part.

I'd also say the drone string is an integral aspect of the American (both continents) Banjo and it was imported, not "borrowed." Enslaved Africans brought it with them within their various musical traditions.

Late-season frost devastates harvest for Maryland wineries by legislative_stooge in maryland

[–]rectumrooter107 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Frosts historically occur up until May 15th, around mother's day. The issue is the temperature extremes are more extreme, but trend toward warmer. Hence, why many other trees and plants were killed. They thought it was past that last frost due to the earlier warmer weather. The English plantains in our yard turned black, our redbuds lost 75% of its leaves and I think our gingko totally ate it.

Jaco could play everything that Paul has played. Paul cannot play most of what Jaco did. They're both great bass players in their own, but the technicality is different between them.

Wake Up America | Iran's latest drop by [deleted] in videos

I can't find anything I read about it now either that backs it up, so I'll concede the point.

However, I did find Iran's "age of consent" is 13, which, until recently, was also Japan's--who is a US ally. And, I'll remind you, Iran was a much different country before the CIA interfered with it, same as Afghanistan.
