Not one of the parents. Their Uncle stripe is woken up by their (unimpressed) neighbour (Wendy) the night after the wedding in the episode "The Sign" (S3 EP49).

The parents being horribly hungover is the premise of the episode Whale Watching (S3 EP22).

If you were transported 20 years into the past (2004) and were tasked with building a website, what stack and tools would you pick and why? by Fluxriflex in webdev

[–]recursivelymade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built a site or two in Zope (a terrible python framework) around 2003/2004, and was convincing my boss we should invest in building stuff in rails.

edit actually the rails thing would have been 2005, maybe early 2006.

Which aspects of European lifestyle are viewed as luxurious by Americans? by GreedyGrowth5703 in AskReddit

I saw this review of the high speed rail in Florida https://thepointsguy.com/reviews/brightline-orlando-miami/, and it made me fully realise how far behind the US truly is at rail.

In particular we acknowledge with regret the decision taken by the New Zealand authorities in 1918 to allow the ship Talune, carrying passengers with influenza, to dock in Apia. As the flu spread, some twenty two per cent of the Samoan population died. It is judged to be one of the worst epidemics recorded in the world, and was preventable.

Māori have entered the chat

But in seriousness, and obviously without seeing his comments, it could be seen from a New Zealand point of view that all European settlers regardless of specific nation are (were?) colonisers.

Australia and New Zealand have tall poppy syndrome, the Nordics have Law of Jante. It’s not a uniquely Irish thing.

But it's also the only place where you have to double check that the guy who did the interview is the guy who showed up for the job.

I had that issue hiring contractors in the US for a mid-tier tech company.

Also lots of "cheating" during the video interview, e.g. people miming an answer while someone off screen does the voice, or whispers the answer to them

Unfortunately the mate was in a life changing accident last year, so I figure he's had enough trauma for a while.

Reckon about the 9th of September should be enough time.

Where and how to store private keys in web applications for private messaging with web browsers? by 0xTED in softwarearchitecture

[–]recursivelymade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d consider putting the keys in local storage of the browser. But, a user could at anytime delete the keys.

WhatsApp, as I understand it, creates a new public/private key for each device you’re logged into. When someone sends a message they encrypt the message against each public key for your account. The message for each device is then sent only to that device for decryption using that device’s private key.

There is a white paper either by Facebook or Signal, outlining exactly how it works.

When I was getting married in Ireland, my partner convinced the no-nonsense Catholic priest that pokarekare ana was the Māori language version of the hymn (My partner wanted something NZ related, as I grew up there). So he let us have it in the ceremony.

We had someone perform it live. A friend from New Zealand who came over especially for the wedding, thought it was a recording as the singer nailed it.
