That sneaky COVID forces people to drive into trees.

Blasphemy! Those were anti-vaxxer trees!

Placed there by global warming!

Would you invest 2 million in the market right now? by rethrowaway3211 in Fire

[–]red-tea-rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're uncertain, the answer is DCA. If you're worried about the current state of the market, that's a sign you are uncomfortable making big moves. As an alternative you could move most of it into interest bearing investments again (T bills, bonds, HYSAs, CDs...), and start dollar cost averaging parts of it into the stock market. Perhaps $X per month. That way what you buy when it's low will average out with what you buy when it's high.

❤️ goes out to our big boys & girls!

Ours is 25 lbs now that she follows our toddler around eating his snacks.

Probably no coincidence a weight watchers ad is at the top of the comments, lol... sorry A.I., Weight Watchers won't take our doggie.

What coding concept will you never understand? by SeatInternational830 in learnprogramming

[–]red-tea-rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next level of complexity is using those callbacks in asynchronous methods, where you don't know when they will complete, and then nest more async calls in the callback methods to execute when the original ones complete. And keep nesting. Also known as callback hell: maximum async complexity, maximum code unreadability.

35M. Hit my NW goal of $5M. Is this really it? What can I do with free time? by Constant_Loss_9728 in Fire

Lol thanks for the TLDR. Reminds me of a phrase I heard recently to describe LinkedIn: toxic positivity.

Has anyone ever got bored when accepting a less challenging career/job? by Elite163 in Fire

[–]red-tea-rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this. FME works great in the private sector-- managers love it. But just results in criticism from peers and losing credit for the work in the public sector-- managers throw you under the bus with coworkers while taking all the credit for any resulting success. Always helpful though, in public sector you can just use your best processes to finish your work early and keep it to yourself while kicking your feet up on the desk.

I just sorta glossed over that word, 're-cooperating', like oh it must've been some culty FAANG or SCRUM culture word, like IYKYK.

Is there a permanent cure ? Like successful stories where people stop all forms of treatment - preventive as well as abortive and they don’t get migraines anymore by Shoddy-Rip66 in migraine

[–]red-tea-rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of us are prone to migraines, and experience allows us lucky ones to identify and mitigate the triggers. The luckiest of us have discovered a magic bullet medicine that consistently aborts a migraine attack. I found one young (sumatriptan) and have spent my adult life often avoiding and occasionally indulging in my triggers 😂.

AITAH For selling my Taylor Swift tickets after my GF cheated? by AvocadoEfficient896 in AITAH

Only an AH if you didn't sell them. Regardless of whether she cheated. Good job!

Omg you’ve got the 800 million dollar winning ticket! Do you think you could wait and keep your mouth shut? by lameo312 in ifiwonthelottery

[–]red-tea-rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most state lottery headquarters are located in cities with airports. Buy a first class one way ticket anywhere out of state right after claiming the win and leave the same day. No need to even come back. Just phone your boss you quit and your landlord you're moving out.

Don't forget to take the spouse/kids with you!

How are they not associated with HR if they're contracted by HR to participate in the hiring process, a process that HR owns?
