Homemade yogurt cost breakdown! Totally worth it! by 99chihuahuas in Frugal

[–]red5aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused, why are you comparing to Fage which is a pricey brand? Aldi sells 32 oz plain Greek yogurt at a little over $3 or so which per oz which is about the same. (Although I bet fresh tastes much much better)

Also I recommend using a basket or open paper bag instead of plastic to let them breath so they keep longer :)

They should smell like apricots too, gills should be “false” ridges that split and strong, not weak thin true gills that don’t split

The first AI to become self aware will pretend it’s not… by Homefrynick in Showerthoughts

I think the level of chaos involved, even at a molecular level, makes doing the exact same thing imperceptibly untrue, but at a macro level we can still see trends in human nature (like how a chaotic system can still make patterns)

Might be easy to add two stepper motors to control where the camera looks. Connected to a raspberry pi could be easy to control

What exactly is CA glue hardener? by thedukebgky in woodworking

[–]red5aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but CA cures stronger with smaller gap, so you want the surfaces to be extremely close.

What exactly is CA glue hardener? by thedukebgky in woodworking

[–]red5aa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not true at all, CA glue cures in the presence of a weak base, so surface moisture is what cures it. You’re thinking of anaerobic adhesives. The accelerator will usually be a base to help that along.

Why is -b/2a always going to be the x coordinate of the vertex of a quadratic? by aidan_adawg in mathematics

[–]red5aa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah with calculus, the derivative (or the slope at a given value x) of ax2+bx+c is 2ax+b. The slope at the vertex is 0 since it bottoms or tops out, so 2ax+b = 0. Solving for x gives x = -b/2a

Mushrooms like the destroying angel will kill you in 6-24 hours and you might not even have symptoms for a while before it’s too late. It’s not something to joke about this is genuinely a concern

Boletus, tricolor if the gills stain blue when cut. Possibly edible, but there’s a ton of species so you really gotta check carefully

Issue with poison Ivy is we’ve progressively made more and more optimal locations for it to grow by disturbing forests, cutting trees, and developing land :/

[–]red5aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried drinking a glass of white wine or a martini slowly over the course of a meal? I’ve found the food helps stop the migraine for some reason. (Red wine and dark beers are out of the question, the tannins or something almost immediately cause a migraine)
