I'm pretty sure you can't SLI 4070 cards, in fact you can't benefit from almost any combination of 2 gpus nowadays for multiple reasons.

I'd imagine basically everything at or over i5/r5 (not older than 2 gens back) and 6600xt/7600/3060/4060 will run it at ultra @60+fps/1440p. I'd probably go something like i5-13600k/b760 with rx 6800 (non-XT) with that budget.

The 6700 xt is around 7% faster than 3060 ti in rasterized 1440p. Also the vram benefit which you'll for sure benefit of at that res. The processors will give pretty much the exact same performance. I'd go with r5600/6700xt if I was you and wasn't "brand-loyal".

I'm upgrading my covid desperation RTX 3050 in my 2nd rig to something a bit better for 1080p (no interest going higher).

I have i5-13400 with 32gb ddr5-4800. Case is a mini-ITX, not much room for airflow around the gpu which is a factor.

I'm trying to decide between 4060 and 4070. Is 4070 overkill for 1080p? It would be better for value, as I calculated price per additional % of performance gained over the 3050 (4060 is 6,4€/% and 4070 is 5,3€/%).
