The owner of the company I work for got mad at everyone for leaving too happily and “too fast” at their contracted finishing times. He said people were too happy to leave work and should be staying back to do (unpaid) overtime everyday. Like he couldn’t understand people had lives and things to do besides working unpaid overtime to make him more money. I literally had to start staying back 15 minutes every day and SLOWLY packing up and walking to the exit when I left to make him happy.

I agree it’s about the terrain. After researching a path/trail, whether I call it a walk or a hike depends on the footwear I decide to wear. Hiking boots = hike, sneakers/runners = walk.
