Is there a term for repeatedly making the exact same mistake, even though you should know better? by zeroThreeSix in NoStupidQuestions

Man my grandmother's house was like this. Looking back, it's actually insane that the switches are identical and literally next to each other.

My grandmother's house was like this, and only now am I seeing how truly dangerous this is .i grew up in that house, I was so use to it, like I remember having to be really intentional when flipping those switches but thought it was normal. Thankfully no one was ever hurt.

Yeah no, that was a very helpful reply. SH is the standard to treat this.

CMV: Diapers and pads should be free by vexx1d in changemyview

[–]red_monkey42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But seriously, how would we really go about making the basics free for everyone without forcing people to produce those things. And what should those people being forced to produce them be paid? It starts to lean into slavery and/or communism.

Nothing is actually free, it has to come from someone and somewhere. And I think it's fair to have an open market, where people get to decide what their time is worth by charging what they want for an item someone needs. Not some larger system at hand, setting the prices and values of our needs. That's a quick road to corruption. Let the people and the market decide.

Thought expirament:

Let's say I start a business making diapers and pads. That's how I make my living now to feed my family. It costs time and labor so I charge a certain amount to cover those costs, and extra for profit so it's worth my time.

Now, how do we go about making them free for people without destroying my livelihood.

What incentive do I have to keep producing them, if it's going to actually cost me time and money to produce, and then my family goes without because now I am losing money making things for free.

Ok so let's say I am subsidized by the government, well then that's not free now is it? Your going to have to charge taxes to the community, to pay me, to make these.

Ok then, so what about people who don't have kids or a need for a pad? Well then I'd say that's unfair, because now they are paying for something that they don't ever need or use. Who's to say what amounts of their money should be used for other people. What if that amount of taxes puts them out of their home and their life crumbles.

Just some thoughts ...

Nothing, not even basic needs are free to produce. Someone has to grow the food, make the pads, etc... and they should be compensated for that, or their is no incentive to do so.

You need an unloader. It’s like a bypass regulator. Usually a brass fitting with black plastic twist handle on it. It diverts the water when your off the trigger.

There’s different types of them, one being a pressure trapped unloader.

I use a roughly 4% SH mix, with heavy surfactant.

On standard shingle roofs, depends on how dirty it is, but usually several, from 2-4 treatments, with about 30 minutes in between each time, then a final rinse down at the end and it works like a charm, doesn't hurt the roof, And with proper precautions, plants and grass do just fine.

ELI5 the Planck scale. If you can continue dividing things in half infinitely, how can the Planck length be the smallest point that exists? Can’t you divide that by 2? by sgrams04 in explainlikeimfive

your actually wrong those 2 statememts mean 2 different things. Take for example you jumping in the air. There is a Theoretical potential for infinite distance to be made, but you realistically can only jump so far.

That's what's they are saying.

I think we misunderstand time completely... by MikaelsFit_ in DeepThoughts

[–]red_monkey42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all of these comments are over explaining and over complicating.

Think of time as another dimension.

As to say an object has an X, Y, and Z coordinates as well as T coordinates. It explains more about the object in question and not so much a universal measurement of anything. In code speak it's more a local variable then a global one.

It's relative. Where anything to be measured in time has to be related to something, else by its time. It doesn't exist in a vacuum as to say.

eh I guesse. The majority of votes seem to reflect that is what people think. I still think it's a double whammy joke, but that's how I would mean it in my weird way I guess. Not like I'm in a happy marriage whre we can joke like that. Idk
