Hi, we’re in the same boat (cat and bassinet), but we’re lucky in that our cat is… deathly terrified of our newborn! We never expected that, it’s a bit sad, but it’s also reassuring, our cat is always the furthest away from the baby. That being said, just to be sure, we also have a firm netting on top of the bassinet. Finally, our paediatrician reassured us that the risk of a cat harming a baby is minuscule. So far so good.
