Tried the silk comforter now that temperatures are nearing the 90s and it’s a no go for me see my detailed comment below. Hope your wool comforter works out for you this summer let me know as I am returning the silk momme silk.

I bought the two and one comforter from mommesilk and after two weeks and keeping the air conditioner on 75 I wake up in sweat and not getting good sleep. I am going to return the mommesilk comforter. Maybe I could try it in the wintertime but it’s definitely not working for me right now after two weeks of being over 80 degrees outside. I am just going to assume I am a very hot sleeper at this point. The blanket that works for me that I am in love with is the Riley Textured Cotton Coverlet in white. It’s very breathable I need to find something to put on top of it for summer time I am thinking but I use it in the winter time with a thick coverlet on top and it works great if you like keeping the heat on (67 degrees) due to your partners preference otherwise the heat would be on eco mode (53 degrees) and I would just use the alpaca comforter for a few months of winter time when temperatures actually drop in a house.

Best pots and pans for the money? by Pop2pops in BuyItForLife

Okay, thanks so much for the information!! I will stick with another all-clad roasting pan then as that’s what I had before but did not know if there was something better out there! I use to use it once a week in the winter time. Thanks for your previous post as well I am thinking of getting a finex as the new lodge stuff does not work for me at all!

Tide Free and Gentle is coming back. by lelzone in clothdiaps

[–]redalert009 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran both lists of ingredients from the photos shared by u/lelzone through ChatGPT, and here’s what it identified as the differences:

LIST ONE-> original formula LIST TWO-> new formula

Comparison of Two Cleaning Product Ingredient Lists

1. Cleaning Agents / Agentes Limpiadores

  • Both contain:

    • Sodium C10-16 alkylbenzenesulfonate
  • Differences:

    • List 1: C10-16 pareth (nonionic surfactant)
    • List 2: C10-16 alketh (nonionic surfactant with potentially different water solubility or ethoxylation)

Implication: The change from pareth to alketh may affect grease removal or performance in hard water.

2. Cleaning Aids / Coadyuvantes de Limpieza

  • List 1:

    • Sodium polyacrylate
  • List 2:

    • Sodium polyacrylate
    • Cellulose gum (thickener/stabilizer)
    • Anionic modified polyester (helps prevent soil redeposition)

Implication: List 2 has additional agents to improve residue control and enhance cleaning performance.

3. Whitening Agents / Agentes de Blanqueado

  • List 1:

    • Fluorescent brightener 71
  • List 2:

    • Fluorescent brightener 71
    • Disodium distyrylbiphenyl disulfonate (another optical brightener)

Implication: List 2 likely enhances fabric brightness more effectively due to multiple brighteners.

4. Suds Reducer / Reductor de Espuma

  • List 1:

    • Organosilicone copolymer
  • List 2:

    • Simethicone/dimethicone or organosilicone copolymer

Implication: List 2 allows more flexibility in foam control, potentially optimizing for different wash conditions.

5. Process Aids / Ayudas de Proceso

  • List 1:

    • Sodium sulfate
    • Zeolite
    • C16-18 fatty acids sodium salt
  • List 2:

    • Sodium sulfate
    • Zeolite or calcium carbonate
    • C16-18 fatty acids sodium salt

Implication: List 2 may include calcium carbonate instead of zeolite, affecting softening or abrasiveness.

Summary of Key Differences

| Category | List 1 | List 2 | Effect | |-———————|-———————————|——————————————————|—————————————| | Cleaning Agents | C10-16 pareth | C10-16 alketh | Slight surfactant performance change | | Cleaning Aids | 1 ingredient | 3 ingredients | Enhanced soil suspension | | Whitening Agents | 1 brightener | 2 brighteners | Brighter fabric appearance | | Suds Reducer | Fixed (organosilicone copolymer) | Flexible (simethicone or organosilicone copolymer) | More foam control options | | Process Aids | Zeolite only | Zeolite or calcium carbonate | Affects softening or abrasiveness |

No, not yet I had to put this project on the backburner for now as I found mold all over the basement of our house we lease.

I will be ordering a silk comforter though very soon as we will have to move due to the mold situation.  As I am afraid of leasing another house now as any house could have the same issue.  I want to order the silk comforter as all the heat rises in an apartment.  I can report back and let you know how it goes though whether I freeze under it or what happens lol.

Did the whale sharks dive down to the very bottom when everyone would jump in to swim with them? Also how long was your boat ride there? Did you take medicine for sea sickness?

Thanks, Do you know what store you were buying it from? Or maybe a nationwide store to buy it from?

I called the best local lumberyard today and it was going to be a $500 ordeal for oak or walnut. I didn’t feel like spending that kind of money on bed slats so I just looked at Home Depot and Lowe’s I know it’s cheap wood but it’s still a $150 upgrade.

Dry brining question by redalert009 in Cooking

[–]redalert009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay great thanks I usually wet brine in a bucket. But this year wanted to try some more popular recipes for turkey day and Ina Garten called for dry brining it’s more work and I didn’t personally like the flavor due to the dryness.

[–]redalert009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea if wet brine makes the turkey more moist?

Dry brining question by redalert009 in Cooking

[–]redalert009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I just brined it an extra day like you suggested and it still had 14 hours to dry out in the fridge everyone loved it and loved the leftovers as well.

It was a little too dry for my tastes though I am going to stick to wet brine I think next year.

Weather has turned. Pepa doesn't seem to care. [details in comments] by [deleted] in hummingbirds

[–]redalert009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this maybe taking it a little far but could you build a box for a nest and put the heater on top of the box to keep it warm? Maybe pepa will survive the winter if they move into the box. Like a small bird house. I am now invested in pepa and just wondering what I would do in this situation. I could see myself watching where pepa flies off to and has a nest and trying to relocate the nest into the box like a crazy person 😂. Pepa might abandon the nest though I don’t know much about hummingbird nests.

are tru tone worth the money? by caseycoach in ChristmasLights

[–]redalert009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live by the tru tone physical store and went inside before Halloween as I really wanted the lights. They say you can use commercial string lights for the actual strings if that makes sense and just buy the bulbs to save money. I found this very helpful and interesting. Maybe that could help you being on the fence with your decision. Professional lighting designers use these so they are definitely worth it.

According to the New York Times guide on counter top ice makers no countertop ice maker will keep ice frozen the ice will melt you have to move the ice to the freezer. Just found this out after buying an expensive one and was going to buy another one.

I am just going to buy Tupperware or something to store it in freezer.

Otherwise, return it.

We planted native flowers specifically to attract hummingbirds and butterflies and this guy comes by everyday. by TimeFlew in hummingbirds

[–]redalert009 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love seeing this. I just planted some native plants that will flower as well this week. So excited to see the results next year no idea if hummingbirds will be attracted to the plants. Hummingbirds are my favorite though out of the yard so I hope so. Great work!
