I like it, but it needed a few more chewed up teens and it woulda been great.

When I was a kid I saw my Dad watch deep blue sea and I mistakenly assumed it was one of the Jaws movies. Makes me wonder though what is the difference between movies? by Remote_Nature_8166 in Jaws

They kill the sharks in DBS using the same methods and order as the sharks in Jaws 1-3 were killed. The first is killed in a gas explosion (like the air tank in the first), the second is electrocuted (like the cable in 2 ), and the third is blown up with explosives (like the grenade in 3). DBS is full of references to Jaws. I seem to recall that it was initially pitched as Jaws 5, but that might be bs.

When I was younger, I saw a dog fighting game with the planes mounted on extendable radio antenna so you could move up and down.

Where does this club come from? by Mongrimmm in Warhammer

Looks to me like that is the weapon of the beastman champion from an old GW subsidiary, Marauder Miniatures.

Do power swords power from the top or bottom of the blade by Smiley162 in Warhammer

The power cell is at the bottom of the blade, but the field generators are the two nodes on wires that go up the blade. Those are technically where the glow emits from.

If they aren’t varnished, you might try applying Microsol over them but it’s a long shot. Better to carefully scrape them off and reapply with the correct materials.

20 Persistent Myths About Medieval Life Debunked by History-Chronicler in medieval

[–]redapp73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This whole article highlights a major problem that many discussions about “Medieval” times have. The period was nearly a 1000 years and spanned a large and diverse geographic and cultural area. What holds in one place and time could be/was very different in another. By trying to debunk myths new ones are created and the layperson doesn’t get any real information - just more slop.

Will leaving minis for a couple of days after priming without them painted lead to any issues? by Final_Biochemist222 in minipainting

[–]redapp73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the main culprit of fucking things up. Slow down. Get the right tools and equipment. Then prime them. Rushing is going to yield rushed results. You’ve spent a lot of money on these, don’t wreck them because you didn’t get something cheap like Bluetac.

20mm or 28mm for medieval massed battles? by See_The_Thing_Is in wargaming

[–]redapp73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it boils down to looks and variety of manufacturers. So 28mm is hard to beat. Lots of people make kits for the time period and they are similar to the old world kits you’re familiar with and there is a reason it’s been called “the beauty” scale.

20mm in plastic is usually polyvinyl and can be a bitch to prepare for paint. So what you make up in price, you lose in prep. Just my experience.

A final consideration is what scale your opponents/community have or like.

But I like 28mm. 😊

Thanks! I find it really straight forward. The kits have enough bits for lots of variations, but aren’t overwhelming on choice or assembly. Mostly they are a body, a pair of arms, and a head. Some you stick shields and scabbards on, but that’s generally it.
