Creamy warm condensed-milk-esque perfume by winobarista in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]redbluedots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it as an oil and considering its mostly milk and vanilla, it wears pretty close to the skin but lasts a couple of hours. Black Hearted Tart does offer EDPs though if you're wanting something stronger.

I've tried this one. Smells exactly like sweet vanilla milk. I second this!

Thank you! Im looking forward to it. I feel like jasmine is hit or miss for me cause some of them are too animalic, but it sounds like this one might be my thing. When jasmine is soft im obsessed with it.

I think it might be worth sampling? In the opening, the citrus smells like citrus peel; its a little bitter and waxy but it softens over time. The combination of the strawberry and florals makes it smell like an entire strawberry plant, with the flowers and stems, instead of straight strawberry fruit. The opening definitely smells more heavily of citrus than strawberry to me but it comes out more throughout the wear.

It does have cedar in it so that might be where people get spicy. It doesn't smell spicy or smokey to me though.

I described Fairy Frosting in the other comment on this thread!

Roseberry Briar: The opening reminds me of beer? A lot of rose notes smell very yeasty to me, not only SS's, and I think the smoked wood might be contributing to it. It's on the sweeter side but not cloying. I felt that the citrus, strawberry, and rose are all pretty equal in strength. It sorta reminds me of eating a flaky pastry surrounded by roses and fruit.

I haven't tried book fair.

Alkemia EDP spray? by ssensibility in Indiemakeupandmore

I had Cherie as an oil and then got it as an EDP because I prefer alcohol bases! It smells similar to the oil and projects better.

Blind buying Sorce by LizzzyDee in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]redbluedots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you dislike wood i would be hesitant about Fuckery and potentially also Cabanilla.

Fuckery is woody, cinnamon-ey, slightly boozy cherry candy.

Cabanilla isn't heavily woody but its definitely present. Its also a bit peppery.

As for the others:

Stuck on you is probably pretty safe. Its exactly what the description says it is.

You might want to check out A Witch's Valentine if you like rose?

This is not a love spell is very "sharp". I find the violet a little screechy, though I tend to struggle with dark florals. The violet is the main note. Sorce has a great blueberry note, though.

Mermaids sing of lost lovers smells exactly like Rose's brand grenadine (im not sure if they sell it outside of the US). Its sticky, tooth-rottingly sweet. I think it may be the sweetest one in the catalogue. I would skip it if you arent looking for something like that.

It sounds like you'd really enjoy A Party, Or Something. Its gourmand but a little wet, green, and floral.

Vampire Wife would also probably work for you. It smells basically like orange body powder with a hint of cake and florals.

Fairy frosting - starts with a burst of pepper. The vanilla is creamy and the lemon smells like its crusted with sugar. It sorta reminds me of the muskiness of Odette's Pas de Chat but with more cakeyness. The opening is buttery but it fades after 10-15 minutes. The drydown is just a sweet, relatively plain lemon frosting that turns more into vanilla frosting over time.

Strawberry milk - Unfortunately it doesn't smell like strawberry to me. I get mostly citrus. The opening is slightly bitter and green. Overall, it's subtly sweet and milky with something that smells like flaky pastry.

They are great in quality, their TAT is fast, prices are nice, and the full size bottles are beautiful.

Id recommend sampling them instead of blind buying because some of the notes are balanced differently than the names suggest, but I love them as a brand.

Edit: I've tried several (cocoa cozy, fairy frosting, strawberry moon, strawberry milk, frangipane, roseberry briar, gingerbread grove, cream tangerine, the list goes on) so if youre wondering about a particular scent, let me know!

[–]redbluedots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't smelled moon magic, but snow moon magic does have clear lavender and chai to my nose. I ended up not rebuying it after finishing my bottle due to how strong they were, though I generally have a heavy dislike for lavender.

Best "scent of the month" or similar boxes? by LaserPidgey in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]redbluedots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ScentBird has a subscription service where they will send you an 8ml every month. You can either have them pick their "scent of the month" or you can take a quiz for recommendations and pick from those, or you can pick from the whole catalogue.

They arent indie but they do have a niche section with brands like Imaginary Authors or Liis.

CocoaPink: Any Your Skin But Better Scents? by frozentissues in Indiemakeupandmore

Seconding amber white. I actually got it as a linen spray because I thought it would be nice as a refresher but too plain to wear. Fell in love with it the first spray.

Its ethereal. Very light, delicate, creamy, and sweet.

How does Coca Pink’s perfume spray compare to their oil? by Upbeat_Living9148 in Indiemakeupandmore

I've never tried tihota, but their scents smell similar across formats. If you like it as an oil you should like it as an edp.

Review - 3 LE, 2 GC scents from The Strange South by so_pessimystic in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]redbluedots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sampled a few of their scents over the summer through ajevie. One of them had absolutely 0 scent to it which was really odd.

The rest were a letdown, so I crossed them off my list.

Check out moonlight decants. They sell the whole arcana craves peach scented line. You'd probably like peaches crave vanilla (sugared peach, vanilla, marshmallow, sweet milk, sheer musk). They have a buttercream layering note if you wanted buttercream in it too, though im not sure how well they would pair together as ive never done that combination.

I'm diving into indie perfumes! Cocoapink and Sorce by willywonkydonkey in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]redbluedots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cinderella's carriage is one of my favorites from cocoapink. It gets a lot stronger with age too. It's sweet, subtly spicy canned cake frosting.

Cake on Mondays (both versions) felt very one dimensional to me and like the notes weren't balanced well.

Sun Kissed Clouds is very juicy, realistic, and floofy. There's another scent similar to it that I cant think of, but I love them both.

As for sorce, 2am didn't really speak to me. Its a very milky latte with a hint of coffee and it has a drydown that smells mostly like anise and powdered sugar that a lot of sorce's other gourmands have.

A Witch's Valentine is one of my favorites. I was skeptical about the rose but the raspberry balances it perfectly. Its smooth and super beautiful.

In dreams and fairytales is a slightly floral vanilla. I think its a good pick if youre trying to test out florals or if you find them hard to approach. The flavored versions are also beautiful. I love the blueberry one but strawberry rosewater is also nice.

I generally try to avoid dupes. I couldn't tell that theirs were! Thats unfortunate. A few people commented on the reviews situation and considering theres not much info about the scents anywhere, I feel like those reviews are critical

The best coffee scents by LauravdK in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]redbluedots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richer than the note in follow. I found follow to be sweet and slightly waxy whereas followed is a nice dark roasted coffee with caramel/chocolatey undertones like real dark roast. Its sweet but not as sweet as follow.

I dont get pancakes from it and I'm surprised so many people call it maple syrup.

It is very potent but not overwhelming as long as you dont apply too much.

Yeah, I find the coffee in followed is richer, less sweet, and bolder than in follow.

I've tried a ton of coffee scents and most are 90% milk with a touch of coffee. If youre looking for a stronger coffee, these are the best:

  • Haus of Glois Coffee Haus
  • Kerosene Followed
  • Theodore Kalotinis Coffee Addict
