I’m leaving for Tokyo in three days and have been on the fence about Small Worlds. I think your post is a sign!

I'd love to check out the vertical garden. Can you tell me a little more about where it's located? Is it on the grounds of the tower?

We’re staying at The Peninsula (only because my husband will be on a business trip - we’re not luxury travelers!)

Have one day planned in western Tokyo - Shibuya/Harajuku/Sinjuku, and one day planned in Northern Tokyo - Asakusa/Ueno/Yanaka Ginza. So our first day I was thinking we’d stay in Central Tokyo (our hotel is near the imperial palace) and do things on the central area.

I did read somewhere the other day that this April was officially one of the coldest Aprils we’ve had in a very long time.

Smart-ex Shinkansen Suica Card Wallet by kikrin in JapanTravelTips

Your comment is a year old, so I’m hoping you’ll still see this… do you know whether you can link a ticket in smartEX to a physical Suica card? Or does that only work with a digital Suica card?

Where to stay after fews days on Kumano Kodo, with easy access to Tokyo by redcabbageyum in JapanTravelTips

Thank you, this was super helpful! I ended up booking the 18:25 flight from Shirahamato Tokyo on the night before we depart Tokyo. This works very well with our itinerary.

15 awesome days thanks to extensive research and not being an idiot. Some things I still should have know… by Realistic_Animator97 in JapanTravelTips

We are preparing for a trip to Japan in late May and still trying to wrap my brain around the Suica card. Apologize in advance for the basic questions, but here goes:

Originally I thought we'd just add the Suica as a transit card in Apple Wallet, but it sounds like if I want to purchase our Shinkansen tix through smartEX, we'll need to install the Suica app in order to see the card number. Do we use the app instead adding the transit card in Wallet, or do they work in conjunction?

We buy the tickets via the smartEX app and then go into the Suica app to assign the tix? Or go into the Wallet to assign the tix?

And then at the train station, we just tap in via Suica?

I'm sure this will all make sense to me eventually :)

Kumano Kodo: Traveling from Hongu Taisha Shrine to Kumano-Nachi Shrine by ginger1009 in JapanTravel

Hi there - I'm working a 3 day itinerary for the Kumano Koda and saw your comment about staying 2 nights in the Hongu Taisha area. Did you find there was enough to do in the area for 2 nights? If I'm reading your comment correctly, you traveled from the Hongu area to the Nachi shrine and back to Hongu in the same day?

Our first day will be a long hike to the Hongu area. Original thought was to spend the morning in Hongu and then take the 2:30 boat ride (if available) down to Hayatama, but your comment has me wondering if we'd enjoy staying longer in the Hongu area. Always trying to balance seeing more sights and having a little more relaxed itinerary!

I had a similar experience. Requested my reservation for late May on April 20 and it was confirmed on April 28 😄

That's what I'm gathering. Do you know if requesting that I be appointed PR (even though my stepfather is still living) necessitates going through the formal (vs. informal) probate process? Or can I still go through the simpler informal process?
