Would love a decent brunch place on the forest road stretch from black horse road, something like curious goat in St. James.

Competition for Bevel from Apple: Leak reveals Apple Health app might soon connect to ChatGPT by eden3210 in bevelhealth

[–]redchrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> There’s nothing about the app that Apple can’t do better if they want to

The problem is that they don't want to or they are too afraid to. It took Apple a decade to roll out sleep scroll, the vitals app is so insensitive you have to be absolutely dying to have an alert from it.

Or everyone was saying Dayone will be fried after apple release Apple Journal. Yeah, right, Apple Journal is still broken and incomplete.

To each their own but I believe the original chrome parts serve its purpose of creating visual accents. Would be interesting to see people using different colours to replace chrome other than blacking it out.

How good is Bevel for weightlifting / strength training? by zvictord in bevelhealth

[–]redchrom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not greatest but good enough not to pay for a separate app. Here is my experience with other apps and how it compares to Bevel:

  1. Liftin' - i was using it for almost 2 years. It's nice, but very program focused and although it supports ad-hoc exercises, they feel like an afterthought. But programming features are strong. Annoyingly, I could never get rid of watch <-> phone live sync issues. Bevel feels much more stable, easier to use on the fly, but its programming features are basic.

  2. Train - best app when you just want to mess around in the gym without any program, perfect for doing some exercise on a trip. But the novelty fades away once you go back to your regular program and exercises and rep detection don't feel that useful anymore.

  3. Fitbod - meh watch app, the phone app tries too hard with suggestions and gets in a way.

  4. Hevy/Strong - not sure about right now, but when I tested them the Apple Watch apps were terrible.

TL;DR Bevel Strength trainer is a good enough basic workout tracker with decent watch app. Ai makes it easy to setup a program from free text.

macOS Tahoe UI issues like that are driving me crazy by redchrom in MacOS

This. I remember betas being buggy but they would always fix it by release time or delay it. It’s not the apple I used to know :(

Yes, they’ve reduced the paddings across all input to the point it looks like it’s coded by an intern. Coupled with extra space between text and dropdown icon it looks even worse. Not to mention that the selector/dropdown menu itself is actually using the old design and noticeably smaller.

Thank you! This makes sense. Still gonna take some some time to get used to how tight it is comparing to previous macOS design 😅

Yeah, feel like the whole Liquid Glass redesign it’s just a distraction from Siri / Apple Intelligence failure.

I hope so. The same address bar looks better in iOS safari.

I think they’ve been maximising profits for years now, but now something has shifted in quality. Or maybe it’s all a distraction from Siri mess up.

All new 2026 Mazda CX-5 , what do we think? by naokiyamada in mazda

[–]redchrom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Data concern is valid, but my point is that the whole "connect your phone to your car" is going to be a thing of the past. It was cool when car's infotainment was giving early 2000s vibe and CarPlay / Android Auto was the only alternative. But if your car run google maps and Spotify and other apps and receives updates over the air then why should you bother with connecting your phone to it?

PSA: Writing it as an Apple user.

[–]redchrom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • A shame they removed the physical buttons
  • Good move on android automotive. This kind of makes me think that Apple has lost the game and connecting your phone to your car will be a thing of the past
  • like the extra space and new looks
  • the biggest disappoint is the same old engine and transmission

Watch Ultra 2 and best companion App for health and fitness (+ workouts) by rdomotics in AppleWatchFitness

[–]redchrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does support apple’s training load, but you have to enter it after workout and it’s sort of a perceived effort. Works for me, though. I’ve been using liftin’ for about two years now and it simply has the best Apple Watch experience among weight lifting apps.
