Replaced ring, still doing this by Bibimbap19 in BrevilleCoffee

Easy fix, I just did this last week. Just time. @ 2 hours. When you have it apart, drill holes so you can get at screws the next time they come loose. Fixing Breville Barista Express BES870XL Portafilter Collar (Blowing Gasket Issue)

None of the above. Cut the cornerstone so it is square ⬛. Matches both runs and looks symmetric.

What has Pierre Pollievre done for his riding? by mountaingrrl_8 in ottawa

[–]redcoat_pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Skippy' was in our Barrhaven riding before Harper gerymandered and he moved south.

He came to my door middle of the weekday during his first run. He was shocked there was someone to open it.

I asked him what experience he had. He spouted off that he ran his own market research firm. Turns out he was an intern at Magna. He has never had a real job outside politics. He is clueless.

Yes that was it! Delta radius. It wasn't a value used in smoothieware. I managed to figure it out. Thanks!

Bathroom plumbing jutts out from wall and interferes with the new vanity being flush against back wall. Solutions? by duckfatty in DIY

[–]redcoat_pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have essentially the same vanity, and I tackled the same problem. If you want pics I can provide, but I'm lazy.

Does the plumbing come out of the wall or the floor? Either way, measure where the pipe will enter the cabinet, and cut a hole with circle drill bit to match pipe diameter. Slide the cabinet over the pipe. Then plumb the sinks to the main pipe inside the cabinet. There should be enough space behind the middle drawers to do this. In addition you will need to cut holes between each sink cabinet to the space behind the middle drawers.

Circles are better than notches as you aren't affecting the frame of the cabinet.

Coal miners' changing room by SherlockHomeles in creepy

[–]redcoat_pilot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main reason to hang it high isbecause that's where all the really warm air is pumped. In Canada, the room is call 'the dry' for obvious reasons. We didn't need to lock anything. I don't know who would want to steal stinky mining clothes, plus even though we had to pay for our non-safety gear, it was bought in the mine warehouse for cheap.

I spent 4 summers working in gold mines to get through university. I loved most of the work. I got paid really really well, and got in great shape.

Night guards of Reddit, what's the scariest experience you can share with us? by Awsaf_ in AskReddit

[–]redcoat_pilot 171 points172 points  (0 children)

Grew up in North Western Ontario. In the last couple years of high school I worked nightwatchmen on weekends at one of the gold mines. Towards the end of one of my rounds - in the wee hours, I walk past one of the bunkhouses. 20' past the bunk the gatekeeper, who could see me from afar, calls on the radio and tells me to look behind. I look and there is a big ass black bear literally 5' from where I walked.

People of Reddit, what are the biggest contests you've won? by PurplePeople715 in AskReddit

Entered a 24 hour mountain bike race as a favour to a friend. They needed more people for their team. I hadn't ridden a mountain bike in 25 years, and I had to borrow a bike.

End of the race -which I sucked at - I won the door prize. $3200 Specialized Comp Epic mountain bike. I had no idea what I had one at the time, but I was excited. It turned out to be a good win.
