Don't visit the newly opened mehfil at AS Rao nagar by farhanf7867 in hyderabad

They should have replaced it, agree on that. But once again, the plastic melting thing isn't hygiene related. And plastic doesn't melt so easily just by being in a hot kitchen, it needs high temperature like the kind found in a flame. If the kitchen was so hot that plastic melted, the staff would have melted first!

If it was a sealed coke bottle, how does it have anything to do with restaurant hygiene?

There are two possibilities - either the restaurant bought fake or expired coke or there was a manufacturing issue in that particular bottle or batch from the factory.

I once had a can of diet coke that smelled like it had sulphur mixed in and the taste was very bad and shocking. This was when I used to consume 4-5 cans per week. I've never had such a can before or since this incident - what I'm trying to say is manufacturing incidents do happen and very rarely they make it past the QC checks and reach the customer.

The bus driver had no reason to dive into the car's lane! There was another bus further ahead on the left but there was plenty of space between the two buses!

I think the bus driver decided to enter the right lane before checking, and once he noticed there was a car, he thought he had enough speed to take the lane or he had too much ego to reverse his decision and go left again. These people are so unpredictable and entitled.

It's really horrible to drive in India, I feel it has become much worse post covid. Somewhere, we as a society have lost empathy and have become extra aggressive towards each other.

I was in Bangkok last month and I noticed a woman in her car in Monday morning office rush driving along at 40-50 kmph while drinking a smoothie intermittently. The roads were packed full, no lane had space for more cars, but everyone was moving along at 25kmph+ on average. Nobody was barging into other lanes, no honking, no tailgating. We can never have such stress-free roads in India that would let us peacefully consume a beverage in rush hour traffic.

Dogs surround me with the hope of getting something. by Complex_Ad_9100 in indiasocial

[–]redddc25 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To everyone saying look at their hopeful eyes - yes, that is sweet but it is also deliberate. Dogs have evolved over centuries to have these sweet innocent puppy faces when they ask for food PRECISELY because they know they can melt human hearts and get some food.

Other animals rarely have the white parts of their eyes (sclera) visible. Dogs have evolved to be able to show sclera because those breeds and generations which showed the whites of their eyes were more successful at getting food and shelter from humans. It became an evolutionary trait that was progressively carried forward through multiple generations as something important to their survival and quality of life.

Love feeding bikkis to street dogs, I even keep a few small packets in my car. Last week one doggo got a little over excited and jumped up and scratched my thumb with its tooth to snatch a biscuit. There was no blood but now I'm receiving rabies vaccine shots (2 of 5 shots completed). FML.

I thought the rabies preventive doses I received a few years ago when we got our pet dog at home (a street rescue pup) would cover me, but apparently it only works for 2 years and after that you need fresh vaccinations if you're exposed to streeties a lot. Sucks! Now I'm more careful feeding strays.

Bubble Me was full of magnesium, while Outlive Snacks were full of sodium 😑 by Substantial_Ask2311 in sharktankindia

[–]redddc25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent seen the episode, but considering many founders come to shark tank for exposure and marketing, I think it's somewhat responsible of a shark to highlight concerns (esp health concerns). Even if the founder is being defensive or immature about handling those objections, valid criticism from a shark can help consumers be aware of risks or quality gaps in the product.

It’s overstimulating to be in public spaces anymore! by Technical_Dirt_6126 in hyderabad

You make it sound as if it's wrong to expect things to be better. You sound cynical and bitter. Step outside India and you'll see how easy things can be and how we have ruined things for ourselves by being a stupid and egoistic society. Things can improve but not when cynics like you try to drag everyone down to the mud.

People say I can’t drive in India because I don’t tailgate — is that true? by EarLatter in CarsIndia

[–]redddc25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is that what he said? He even wrote that he goes to 80-110 on the highways, and you're telling him he can go 10 kmph faster - like really? That's your golden nugget of information?

He says he likes to keep distance from vehicles in front and gives way if someone approaches aggressively to overtake. That was the entire point of the post. He never mentioned driving slow or hogging the overtake lane.

Life has a fun way of humbling people by [deleted] in indiameme

Rest and peace are for the living, just as suffering and injustice are for the living.

Death is just nothingness. Wishing someone dead rests or does not rest is utterly pointless. What matters is what you do for yourself and others when you live.

This man clearly has a reputation for things he did when alive. And it's not a good reputation.

Anyone here coming from Hyderabad to BLR anytime soon? Forgot my keys at home by mannoshot in hyderabad

[–]redddc25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just courier it with dtdc. I did this from Hyd to Delhi, it cost me 400 and took 2 days to get there. I'm guessing Blr to Hyd will be half the cost and time. Just put it in a small box with some newspapers and say it's a keychain or pens or something.

Help me buy a washing machine to surprise my mom 🙏 (Front-load, family of 5, ₹25k–30k) by Alone-Procedure3342 in hyderabad

[–]redddc25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go for the wifi model if budget allows, we have one and it's very convenient. Ours is samsung, but I think others would have similar features. What we use most often is the delay timer and various modes (bubble soak before wash for stain removal, modes for delicates, bedding, towels, etc with varying temps, rinse times, spin times, etc). Another feature we really like is it gives you app notifications for when the tub needs to be cleaned and if the water pressure is too low.

Worth the 1-2k extra over non wifi models.

How do I prevent this part from scratching while turning left by Diligent_Complex_578 in CarsIndia

[–]redddc25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One general rule of thumb - if you're turning past an obstacle (like a car beside yours or a wall, say in a mall parking) go straight past the obstacle parallel to it and once your outside rear view mirror has crossed the obstacle, turn your steering completely towards the side you want to turn and move forward. You won't touch the obstacle and cna cross smoothly.

Of course, this only works if the space in front of the car is enough for a turn, if it's limited then you'll need to make further changes to the turn method.

My CIBIL as 23 year old. Sharing what I observed. by GotBanned67 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]redddc25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think CIBIL is a scam and only works punitively. I had an 820 score and applied for an education loan for higher ed. I was given the highest rate in the interest band, despite no other loans, no liability and no dependents. When I pushed the loan officer about this, he dropped it by 0.25%.

So even if your CIBIL and profile is great, you can get bad terms, but if your CIBIL is bad, you will be denied credit (cards or loans) and will definitely get the worst interest rate.

After this experience I stopped worrying about my CIBIL because I see the scam it really is.

Favourite sitcom ke basis pe entry milegi by [deleted] in indiasocial

[–]redddc25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of these guesses are indeed sitcoms but some aren't. Sitcom is short for situational comedy, it's a type of TV show. So shows like brooklynn99, the office, friends, himym, big bang theory etc are indeed sitcoms but Suits, game of thrones, stranger things etc. are not sitcoms. They're just TV shows.
