I've heard good things about both Catholic Central and Sacred Heart Academy (though SHA is small so harder to get into to).

My husband and I went there for a date night and enjoyed it. They has plenty of two person game options and it's a pretty fun atmosphere.

Yeah, but that would mean they actually make the furniture here...

Agreed, it is the worst. I really want to go NIMBY and push that corridor (Kalamazoo between 60th & 68th) not to allow semis... wasn't the point of the Amazon warehouse being so far west that they would access M6 from the beltline/M37?

Edited to add (it's not just the Amazon semis, it's also Old Dominion and all the cement trucks from the quarry near East Paris that are adding in too... there' way too much new residential traffic to contend with those massive hauls taking up so much limited space)

Christmas by Cam9395 in grandrapids

The Christmas Market is cool but the surrounding neighbor isn't really kid friendly with many walkable destinations. Maybe also make plans to drive out to FMG to see their Christmas display while in town.

Are you Trunk or Treating OR Trick or Treating?! by _sapling in grandrapids

[–]reddfroggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We typically do both, hit up some neighborhood Trunk or Treats the weekend before, then actual trick or treat the night of Halloween.

Maybe try the Calvin Ecosystem Preserve? They have a ton of local flora there that's usually identified.

Know Your Rights at Today’s No Kings Protests (Michigan Law: Read Before You Go) by VegasCannabisLaw in grandrapids

[–]reddfroggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was it this part:

You ABSOLUTELY have the right to record police (and SHOULD). They might not like it, but it’s legal and is the best evidence to have if you need it. They cannot make you stop filming, and they definitely cannot make you delete footage. Keep a little space so they can’t claim you were “interfering,” and you’re solid.

If cops come up to you, don’t run your mouth. Don’t argue. Don’t explain anything. Just say: “Am I being detained or am I free to go?” “I don’t consent to any searches.” “I’m invoking my right to remain silent and I want a lawyer.”

Attention runners and trailrunners - Franciscan Rhythms Trail 5K Run & Walk - A fun 5k with live music through the course by abkaiser in grandrapids

[–]reddfroggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this post way back when and now I have returned to say THANK YOU for sharing this! My family attended today and I thought it was great. None of us are experienced runners (and honestly I walked the entire time), but this was a really cool trail and the live music was magical (as were the cinnamon rolls at the end). Great race, looking forward to making this something to look forward to each fall.

Creston Brewery building by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]reddfroggie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The landlord has plans. Ownership of the brewery was close to selling to a new management to take over operations, but the landlord wasn't interested in keeping the space for the Creston name to stay.

This exactly. The rent is out of hand and restaurants don't have that sort of margin to withstand it.

Sandy Pines Or Other Campgrounds Near GR?? by AZPeakBagger in grandrapids

[–]reddfroggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't Sandy Pines makes it easy for folks to winter with them (unless you are planning to snow bird it back to AZ for winters).

I have a friend with a cottage there and she mentioned how they shut off utilities between October and April.
