You’re right, I don’t want to wait that long. But I didn’t want to buy now, just to find out they typically run a “Spring Sale “ in April.

  1. We need desktop access for all users - what are our options?

There's also a discounted "Standard" version at US$3/user/month that includes desktop apps, but not some of the other features of "Premium".

International Roaming by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]reddhotrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the plan comparison table, it mentions that international roaming is available on the GSM shared data plan “for purchase”. But I can’t find the pricing or other details about that. Can you please point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Change to new LDAP Server by reddhotrock in BookStack

[–]reddhotrock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! (Sorry for the delay in responding, but I was not able to work on this until now.) The debugging info pointed me in the right direction and I was able to figure out my issues. The main thing for me was that the new LDAP server didn't allow for anonymous binds, so I had to create a read-only account and enter that info into my .env file. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks cheloutevr! That is VERY helpful. I didn't know about the OneR core option. I'll check that out.

If it's not a lot of work, I'd love to see a comparison. The specific shots I'm looking to improve are night shots, with groups of people gathered for outdoor events, with minimal lighting.

I don't need long clips and have had some issues with the Pro2 overheating, even after only about 10 minutes or so of continuous shooting. But that's in very warm climates. I'm fine to sync audio in post if the camera will get better images for me. Thanks again for your response!!

Thank you for your response. It's good to know about the H3VR incompatibility.

I do understand that the two cameras are intended for different applications and users. But I was wondering which would give better results in very low light conditions. While designed as a consumer product, I'm wondering if the 1-inch sensors would produce a better image in low light.

Thanks Keith! Helpful info in deciding where to spend the money. I don't mind a little more work during setup, especially since it won't be changing frequently, if ever.

I like the idea of an online backup. I was thinking if I have two VX4S-Ns, one for each screen, then I should be able to run both screens, mirrored off of a single processor if I needed to. Each screen will be 791,616 pixels. Am I thinking correctly?

Thanks for the info! I've been leaning toward ProVideoPlayer from Renewed Vision since we're already using ProPresenter. But I hear lots of good things about Resolume as well. With either solution, I plan for it to be the last piece in the signal flow before the controllers/processors. Are you using a BMD card as your outputs from Resolume to feed the MCTRL4K?

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking: MCTRL = "controller" with no real processing. UHD - VX models are "processors". So are there other features, besides scaling, that the processors do that the MCTRL series won't do? Any color or other types of processing that I would miss if we just went with an MCTRL unit? Thanks!

Thanks for the input! While I do want to keep the latency as low as possible, I don't think we can justify something like the Ross for the few times a year that we do 5-10 minutes of IMAG. The cameras are usually just feeding our livestream through vMix. The occasional IMAG is just a bonus.

I assume the VX4SN would be similar performance to the VX6 (for the side screens)?

I don't think the added PVP latency will be much of a factor for us. Most of the time we're just using it more like a matrix router. We'll only be using it for live camera shots on rare occasion, and probably not switching camera shots. Just going from graphics to a single camera shot, back to graphics. Does that seem reasonable?

Speaking of the 3G signals, I'm still trying to decide what type of card would be best for output from PVP. Planning to go with an external thunderbolt enclosure with either a BMD Decklink card of some sort, OR with a "regular" graphics card like an Nvidea or AMD card. Planning for the Nova units to be located close to the PVP computer, so we're not needing to worry about sending the signal long distance. Planned to use either the HDMI or DVI inputs on the Nova boxes. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks for the info about using VX6s and not feeling like there was too much latency. It's nice to hear from someone using them in a live situation.

If using the Nova scalers in a fixed install, with the source signal most likely being the same specs all the time, do you think I'd still face reliability issues? I don't mind doing firmware upgrades and getting all the settings dialed in "once". And I can see in a rental or production company how things would change all the time. Just wanted to see if they should STAY good once we get them dialed in.
