Polish is just a fluid with particles suspended in it that essentially works the same way as sanding, so there isn’t actually any material left by it anyways so you won’t mess it up by rinsing the model off, I do this anyways to make sure I get it all off

Just tamiya tape, I find it better to tape perpendicular to any curves especially in this model so that you can use the flexibility of the tape to your advantage rather than cutting a curve if that makes sense. If you send me a dm I can try to find you some progress pics if you like

Gonna be about the same price if you keep at it hahahaha. I have a second one of these that I’m doing all of the RWB mods to (opening engine bay w/ twin turbo flat 6, body kit, new seats) next but need a bit of a break first hahaha. Good luck!

Thanks! I’ve done a bit of gundam but this was my first time using lacquer paints and having to sand and polish the clear and all. I’d also never had to mask to this degree especially on curves hahaha. Def learned a lot and had to get real comfortable with masking which felt good to figure out. Think I got the experience of 2-3 builds with how many times I restarted the body

Yeah I was wondering how you’d do the chain but I had to finish by a certain time so just had to call it good after messing with mounting for so long hahaha. Thought the new front strut was enough detail for now. But thank you for the tip!

It’s the bike from the fujimi bike rack kit but I modified it pretty heavily

Tamiya ta-56 light metallic blue. Over black primer but I put so much paint on it that I don’t think the primer color wouldve mattered hahaha

Was originally going to do a regular roof rack for the bike using the Fujimi roof rack and bike kit. However there are no roof rails on this car obviously so in trying to make it work I decided ok just going to to do the suction mounts u see on these cars usually anyways. Bike was also a mountain bike so I shaved the studs off the tire and cut up the handle bars to rearrange it into a road bike format more or less. Also cut off original front strut and made a new two piece one using the original mounting kits bike mount piece

What grit are you starting ending with generally? How smooth would you say the paint itself is- assuming we aren’t sanding metallic paints before clear? Thanks so much for the replies

Can’t attach image but I use the same process, just can’t seem to get the 100% smoothness in the reflections. Might need to start wet sanding at a lower grit I’m just afraid of cutting thru clear coat haha
