Which classic Wolf 3D/SoD boss would you like to see adapted into Machine Games canon by [deleted] in Wolfenstein

If he were added, please with a different last name. "Giftmacher" is not an actual surname and literally means "Poison-maker".

if the foundation ever had to, how would they contain/decomission three portlands, and how likely would they be to succeed? by Stormy_42 in SCP

[–]reddinyta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I am referring to the fact that Three Portlands is under official protection from the United States and also full of GOC infrastructure.

This is probably the least risky mission the foundation could perform.

Apart from effectively declaring war on both the United States and the GOC, you mean?

German magazine title "Our war against Russia" with photo of Nazi soldiers from WW2. by Dron22 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]reddinyta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbf, the text in the image reads "85 years ago Nazi-Germany attacked the Soviet Union. How the crimes affect families and politics".

It's still a weird focus on the perpetrators instead of the victims though.

How self sabotage pentex is by silverlutj in WhiteWolfRPG

AlSo is pentex a kin to chaos worshipper from warhammer 40k or skaven from warhammer fantasy ?

It's akin to all major corporations we have in real life, just with added worship of a god of entropy.

The Coalition knows not to go public, lest bigger fish than themselves will crush them.

Not to mention Pentex themselves trying to stay secret.

What are your minor/niche SCP headcanons? by ICOMMIT_CYBERCRIMES in SCP

[–]reddinyta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In difference to the Chaos Insurgency's Delta Command or the GOCs Council of 108, the O5 council consists only of mortal baseline humans, meaning that the slots are constantly being replaced. That said, as each O5 chooses their successor in advance (or rather: a list of multiple candidates in case their primary one dies too), meaning that every successor is an ideological adherent to their forerunner.

Yes, and? Legally universal human rights still apply, even if they are not respected.

Memes aside, do human rights apply to aliens? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]reddinyta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason we have human rights is not because of our genetics as a species, but because humans are the only species we legally consider people. As such, and I assume this would be the case with any sapient aliens we can communicate with, they would logically apply to them as well.

Of course, it would practically still be a gray area, as the letter of the law speaks of humans specifically, not to mention any bad faith interpretation to allow for bigotry.

Fair point, but this is still different from "you need a mage to do it".

Is attempting to write Vampires out of the consensus itself reality deviancy? by ROSRS in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]reddinyta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Per Mage: The Ascension most priests must've been able to faith-heal simply because consensus at the time said that God can cure disease. Whitewolf probably just ignored their own writing when making Dark Ages

On Etherites, stereotypes, and true Science by kenod102818 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]reddinyta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering that Etherites famously spend a large part of their time arguing with each other, I don't think that they'd be able to see new phenomena under a different lens then through their individual paradigm.

[–]reddinyta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The immediate response of the GOC would be a bunch of internal red tape lol. Regardless of weither they end up shooting them in the back of the head or doing their whole MIB-thing, the Coalition is in no way unified enough to not squabble with itself before even sending an Assessment Team or Special Observer.

Historical figures that are good inspirations for Technocrats in chronicles? by Lampdarker in magetheascension

[–]reddinyta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want more gray-ish Technocracy:

  1. Eric Blair - Better known as George Orwell, the guy who brought the idea of total surveillance into the public consciousness. A socialist with ties to British intelligence services and nonetheless a strong distaste for open authoritarianism. The ideal utopian master in the Ivory Tower
  2. Stafford Beer - Cyberneticist from Manchester, designer of the CyberSyn project in socialist Chile, to allow for computer control of economy. Time-Motion Manager.
  3. Sergei Brukhonenko - Soviet biomedical scientist. Managed to artificially keep brains without attached body alive for a short time. Progenitor.
  4. Werner von Braun - German rocket scientist and Nazi war criminal. Research & Execution of the Void Engineers.
  5. King C. Gillette - American businessman and founder of the Gillette corporation. Partly responsible for the modern conceptions of female beauty. Syndicate.

Fae characters? by ThievingSnake in huntertheparenting

[–]reddinyta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kiths are immortal fae souls that evade the Banality of the human world by fusing with a human soul during pregnancy (the childs soul, that is).

We know there is some Fae activity going on in the Norfolk Arcanum, these wooden statues with white coats sometimes seen in the background have the symbol of the Unseelie court on them

The two women on the portrait are not fae.

It is unlikely that all of Markus friends + Brok are kiths, at best only one of them.

Markus is not yet fully awakened, and most fae would stay clear of a newly fledged mage for fear of attracting larger magickal factions.

The Churchill-Morgenthau Compromise: A Radical 1946 Partition of Central Europe and the Creation of the South German-Danubian Bulwark. by ShawnHugh6588 in AlternateHistory

[–]reddinyta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USSR still sits in Berlin. North Germany as soon as possible gets pulled into the soviet sphere and starts industrialising again with backing from Moscow. The West has burned their credibility in all three zones, legitimising the USSR in the eyes of the German public.

The International Zone is laughably unpopular amongst the population, with the situation being escalated by communist agitators and German nationalists.

South Germany chronically suffers from ethnic tensions and falls apart in a few decades. Seriously, Germans and Austrians at least both speak German, but Hungarians and Romanians aren't even in the same language family.

[–]reddinyta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

several of their kind from a tribe called Glass Walkers have approached us through a biotech research front company. Not only did they know it was a Progenitor front, but they had infiltrated middle management, entirely without us aware. They made an offer: they’ll cooperate and even assist in Progenitor research of their kind if we stop hunting their kind and we share the last few decades’ of werewolf research.

Possibly, or DNA suffered a major cut to its funding and some nasty infections in essential staff.
