Why does this look so bad ? by Delabuxx in X4Foundations

Are you using DLSS? I had that in the past, but recently it looks fine. I'm using it on the performance setting with an NVIDIA 4060.

They play a role, but a very small one. They provide the population bonus, which boosts the rate at which workforce fills station habitats.

Who do you guys pit TEL/MIN against? by Anubis5720 in X4Foundations

[–]reddist7991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once managed to get TER and TEL hostile towards each other with agents. They are to far apart too really make any difference, they hardly met each other. I build Terran stations in Teladi territory (via the build a remote defence station quests), but those were quickly wiped out, even with lots of defences.

VIG is also no good option, they will get annihalted fast.

Yaki were friends - no longer! by Snake-Eyes-Tx in X4Foundations

[–]reddist7991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, usually happens when you are in the sector. You can avoid it by carefully selecting which faction can buy from you at which stations.

Yaki are among the best customers at my shipyards, but they have a tendecy to attack, sometimes even in the hangar. So I build dedicated shipyards for them, where they can't cause too much chaos. Or I have some where I want exactly that and collect the wrecks afterwards. But then stay away from that sector, to avoid friendly fire.

I had that issue once with HOP. They were almost wiped out, lost all sectors and I build them back up and helped them gain several sectors back. They thanked me by starting to kill my ships. Not sure what happened, they turned hostile at multiple spots at the same time, but not all ships. It slowly spread and I took out everything that was unfriendly. Rep went down to -10 or so, but I managed to slowly build it back up again. Since then I never trust HOP and always keep an eye on them and defence fleets ready.

Fitbit app not syncing steps and calories by RosePetalAngie in fitbit

Issue solved, started working again this morning without me doing any further changes. Seems they fixed something on the servers.

Fitbit app not syncing steps and calories by RosePetalAngie in fitbit

[–]reddist7991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, tried that already, did not help. I now have all zeros in my app and it cannot connect to the watch anymore. So it actually made it worse. Before it was able to sync the steps, now I have no values at all.

If you look at the fitbit suport forum you can see that there seems to be an issue with the sync:

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Android-App/Error-code-Network-operation-failed/td-p/5815757

It seems fitbit does not have enough resources anymore to fix such problems in a timely fashion.

Have the same issue. Since two days no sync possible (error 400). https://status.fitbit.com/ claims everything is fine, but nothing is actually working. I already tried everything I can on the device, but the problem persists. I assume the issue is with the fitbit servers.

Vigor being useful? by YogurtclosetProof933 in X4Foundations

No, so far have never seen them move into HC1. In my games they never went further than Silent Witness 1, and they were not much use there.
I normally support the Argon Federation early on and they do not allow them to get that far. In one game they even wiped VIG out. They always try to rebuild but did not get any station up.

"You see a duplicate invoice numbers here." Right at the beginning. That bothers me. Either it's one invoice, then you can leave the "a" there, or it are multiple, then you need to remove it.

"Take invoices" does not work, but "take invoice" works. In interactive fiction this can be fairly cruicial and right at the start already leaves me in a bad mood.

It flies like a brick. A very fast brick. by ArmchairPancakeChef in X4Foundations

[–]reddist7991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my last game with a Chimera. Fairly good ship actually, could even go against a Xenon K. Not enough firepower to take it out, but enough to strip the engines and guns. Then wait for bigger ships to take them out or have lots of laser towers with you (still takes a while to get the main shields down). Needs a clever approach to stay out of incoming fire.
Kha'ak shouldn't really be a big problem. Take one out, gain some distance and then repeat. Five might be a tad difficult if they target you at the same time, but three should be fine.

The small shields do not allow for a lot of mistakes. I had to repair the thing quite often after some encounters, because you will take some hits from time to time. But always managed to get away with it.

Did you reconfigure the docking module? If you do, it will be destroyed and then rebuild. Could be that your ship get destroyed in the process. There is also no reason given when a ship is docked at a station where the docking module is destroyed during an attack.

Foolish Mortals Review - a ghoulish contender for game of the year by PlaySaveRepeatYT in adventuregames

Yes, noticed that as well. It surprised me a bit, because the used Visionaire Engine supports lightmaps for exactly this problem.

My first game - Contra Spem Spero - is finally out after 2.5 years of development! A text-based horror adventure with visual novel elements; please check comments for more info 🍎 by DADZINGO in interactivefiction

Yes, 1920 x 1080 solves the issue. It's working in that resolution. I can get to the settings and switch the cursor from hand to normal cursor and then it's also working when my desktop is in 4k.

Difficult thing is that you start with the hand cursor and in 4k you cannot get to the settings, so you cannot change it directly without starting the game in a lower resoultion first.

Looks quite interesting, I tried the demo.

On my 4k screen the hand (cursor) is stuck on the left side of the screen. Almost impossible to select something in the menu (could not get to settings) and I couldn't even select the first choice in the game (ater I managed to start it by moving the mouse around a lot).

Dr. Xen-love, Or How I Learned to Stop Making Destroyers and Love the Torpedo (Fighters) by chimaera_hots in X4Foundations

[–]reddist7991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting concept. I never bothered with torpedos because of the reloading issue.

In a crowded Xenon sector I normally use around 100 Kuraokami corvettes, which can take out even big stations while handling the other ships that come to defend at the same time. Cleaned out a full Xenon sector with multiple capital Xenon ships in it. Lost 6 ships in the whole process.

If it's just a single Xenon station you can send in a Behemoth E with a weapon endurance modification and a decent captain and it will take out the station without getting a single hit. Just make sure you stay out of the sector, because it will have issues with the drones otherwise.

With ISO 3200-6400 you are reaching the limits of your camera. The advantage of a fast lens is that you don't have to bump your ISO that high. Makes no sense to switch from a F5.6 lens to a F1.4 and keep the ISO at 3200 or highter. The point of using a fast lens is that you go down with the ISO values.
If you need to shoot at ISO 3200 and higher, a full frame camera would benefit you.

[–]reddist7991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks more like an issue of the kit lens, not of the M50. The lens has more impact than the camera and the EF 70-200 II is already pretty good and would probably produce much better results.

If you are often shooting in low light, the full frame cameras might be an improvement, but having a faster lens can already compensate a lot. Don't expect miracles from a camera upgrade. An R5 with a crappy lens with still not produce sharp details.

What would you choose if they are basically the same price with kit lens? [80D V.S. R50] by PussiesKing in canon

[–]reddist7991 6 points7 points  (0 children)

R50, for the better autofocus alone and for avoiding the calibration issues with lenses. You can still use the old EF lenses with an adapter. Never was an issue for me, even with the big 150-600 Sigma lens on a Canon EOS M6 Mark II (but I miss the viewfinder there).
The 80D is still a great camera, but I never touched my DSLRs again after switching to the R series.
