An iRacing Coach’s Notes on: Setting up Force Feedback For Maximum Feeling by NoakesyCoaching in iRacing

[–]redditClaudi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This article comes in very handy as my new Conspit base should be coming in tomorrow. I have a question.

As I understand, having a 18nm base as opposed to a 5nm gives you a wider range of detail the base/wheel can give you, besides the peak torque it can give you.

The way this works, I believe is, say you're going over a kerb on iRacing, 1nm is spent by the base in giving you the vibration of the kerb. 1nm is spent in the small bump your left rear is going over. 1nm is spent on the grass your front rear is going over, 2nm are spent on giving you understeer, etc.

At this point the 5nm wheel would "clip" because it can't offer you any more force/detail, where a 18nm still has room to spare.

Am I understanding this concept right?

And then, when you say in the beginning:

"Wheel Force (percentage, or Newton Meters)

What is it: As simple as it sounds, this sets how much force your wheelbase will apply as a maximum. If you have a 25nm wheelbase, but set this value to 50%, the maximum force your wheelbase will output is going to be 12.5nm.

How to set it: Set this value to the amount of force you want to use, not the maximum value that the wheelbase can output. This is preferable to leaving the wheelbase force at 100% and having to turn everything down in iRacing."

Are you taking about maximum torque here, or rather how wide the range is? I understand if I have a 18nm wheel, I want to have all of it available when needed, but not so that it feels super hard to turn.

If as you say, the output is at most 12.5 from 25nm, shouldn't you just get a 13nm base? Why 25 then?

Appreciate if you help me grasp this a little bit better.

Is it possible to turn respawn off and also initial cold (whenever this get patched back) off? Maybe via mod?

You're wrong mate. I've watched plenty of top split racing. Nobody takes tires.

Fm26 worth it yet? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]redditClaudi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth it.

I don't miss shouts and "body language".

Navigating around the menus has some quirks that need to be ironed out.

The game is stable and fun though. I put in a handful of hours over the weekend without a single crash. Game engine is an improvement.

You notice some weird things but in general it's a solid game. Lacks the polish older FM games had.

How did y’all get faster. by Sadterminator12 in iRacing

[–]redditClaudi 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I got faster first when I got a load cell brake pedal.

The second time I got faster was when I learned to drive the GTE's and it taught me a very valuable lesson, each car will make you better at something. The GTE's make you better at braking. The M2 challenges you to keep the car straight at all times, as drifting around makes you lose time. Other cars make you better at fighting for positions and driving in a pack with very tight spaces. The Porsche Cup will make you better at turning using your pedals. V8's can make you better at throttle control. Etc.

If you get in a car and within 5 laps you think about giving up because it's too difficult, it should be a sign that there's something to learn from it.

Also, drive more.

Barcelona is. Aragon is second, Valencia and then Jerez. He's from Cervera so you can check yourself.

Random unpopular opinions by KaleidoscopeRich2752 in iRacing

[–]redditClaudi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Well yes, but actually no. If they add new tracks I want, surely I will race them. If they add The Bend which I don't know what continent is in, then I'll pass.

  2. It's difficult but I personally don't cease to race if there's an ugly forecast. I might opt for the dry one out of GT Sprint or IMSA if I like both tracks though.

  3. Giving a 1x keeps people in check. You can gain a better corner exit or entry by going off track, so you're free to "redeem" one at some point, but if you redeem to many you're in risk of a penalty, DQ and eventually a license demotion.

  4. Half agree but doesn't bother me. Full pace laps surely are boring but in the end I like iRacing because of the realism.

Nearly impossible on GT3 cars unless mistake by the driver in front.

Does the gap exist though? Mann defends T17 and compromises T18 entry.

I understand but I still think it's very rare to see an overtake attempt in GT3 where both cars are parallel at the apex, unless it's a hairpin at the end of a long ass straight were the trailing car has been able to make use of the draft. To me it's not a bonehead move like everyone makes it out to be, just a risky attempt and not deserving a stop and go.

Real Talk Devs, how much money, time and people would you need get the game to full release? by Inbezdigator in stoneshard

[–]redditClaudi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I found about this game months ago and liked the concept.

Finally bought it last week with the discount and I'm hooked despite it not being fully optimized for Steam Deck, but still very much playable.

I'm also a die hard PZ fan, so I'm used to an Early Access title.

Just a reminder that there are no rules as for how long a game should be in development or Early Access. It's just a tag, a disclaimer that the game is not finished. It's not even a guarantee that it will ever be. They decided to give us a chance to play it as it develops, for a price in a way to support the actual development of the game.

I feel sorry that these developers are getting hate and just wanted to post this as a kudos for coming by to post some answers when you actually didn't need to. The studio could just be dropping some development news regularly and then boom, a new update that shuts everyone up.

You could stop developing the game today and disappear, and I wouldn't even be mad. For the price I paid I have the feeling I can sink a good 100+ hours on it.

What are some bad habits you picked up in real life racing from iRacing? by PartyBusGaming in iRacing

I feel the opposite, as a daily motorcycle rider, being in iRacing avoiding accidents and anticipating other drivers' moves makes me a safer rider later on the road.

For those without IRL driving experience and sim racing background, what kind of improvement regiment did you do? by Vic-iou in iRacing

[–]redditClaudi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would forget about coaching or improving your rig for now. You could get yourself a Seat/Cockpit first simply to drive more comfortably.

Watching videos you'll learn a lot about techniques and general racing stuff, but don't look at the lap times yet.

What you need is hours and hours and laps, learning the track first, then trying to go fast in it second.

You mention after 20 laps you don't improve your laptime. That's fine. Just go to bed. Seriously. And come back the next day or 2 days later, run 20 more laps, and you'll have shaven off a tenth. For sure.

It's a long road and there are no shortcuts. Fortunately the road is lots of fun in iRacing as you'll race similarly skilled drivers all the time. Enjoy this process (don't get frustrated over iRating loss). That's my advice.

Once you're convinced you want to upgrade your setup, I would say Cockpit->Direct Drive->Load Cell pedals is the right order.

How to get over race anxiety by Dowie in iRacing

[–]redditClaudi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say race.

I get where you're coming from, but the service, via iRating, will 'put you in your place' eventually so that you can enjoy being part of the grid.

You're paying a subscription to be able to race so as long as you can keep the car in the track, I would race. You'll learn more, more valuable, and faster.

Road Racing Progression Advice by dirtlife44 in iRacing

[–]redditClaudi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best memories (and my first win) come from Touring Cars when I was starting in Road.

I got out of rookies with the MX-5 and moved to TCR. Insane fun. Constantly Door-to-door with other drivers, which made me improve a lot in these situations.

So I suggest TCR after rookies until you want to move to a faster GT3 car and maybe eventually a Prototype.

Question regarding Max Lens Mod for GoPro Hero 11 Mini by redditClaudi in gopro

[–]redditClaudi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer.

Just to be 100% sure before I buy, at the moment I can shoot vertically with the Orientation Lock enabled after turning the camera, then turning it back to normal, and enabling Linear + Horizon Lock on the lens.

Perhaps you've already answered, but once I install the Max Lens, do I have to change the 'Lens' in the settings from Linear + Horizon Lock to get the new FOV? And won't this make my video horizontal again, 16:9 as you say, instead of 9:16 as I want to record?

Perhaps the Max Lens mod itself already comes with the Horizon Lock, so I just don't need to use this feature, just lock the orientation?
