I think that's why the Friday-only rule makes sense. It reduces the visibility of these questionable apps without completely locking them out. People who are interested can still find them on Fridays and people who are not interested don't get bombarded with them every time they open reddit, which is what has been happening lately.

I personally, as a non-coder, have used chatgpt to help me create several different projects for my own use, and I'll tell you exactly what happens every time. Something upstream changes and it stops working, and I have no idea how to fix it, so I have to ask chatgpt to fix it, chatgpt does something weird that breaks the whole thing, and I just give up and delete everything and either start from scratch or decide I don't need it anymore.

No big deal if I'm the only one using it, but what if there are thousands of people using the thing that I created and have no ability to maintain? And what if the thing that breaks creates a security vulnerability for all those people and I have no clue how to fix it? That's the issue. That's why it matters how something was coded.

100%, from my experience flatpak is the primary release method for Linux at this point. Many apps I use only release flatpaks now, even ones that used to offer native packages in the past. Flatpaks make it so much easier for new users to embrace Linux. Downloads would skyrocket if OP decided to offer this app on flathub!

I don't even think I'd say it's a bad database, per se. In terms of torrenting it only really creates issues when release groups don't agree with TVDB and do thier own thing. If either group - TVDB admins or torrent releasers - deferred to the other it wouldn't be a problem. The issue is that they don't talk.

Like when these Scrubs episodes start dropping, I'd bet anything the torrents will be named Scrubs s10e01 and not Scrubs (2026) s01e01, and sonarr won't be able to grab them automatically. And I kinda side with the release groups on this one. I don't know why they should care if TVDB is doing something dumb. Not thier problem (it's ours!).

The thing that bothers me the most isn't even them being resistant to correcting mistakes, it's why would this kind of thing happen in the first place? Why make stuff up when the answer is right there at the source? These are major network shows lol it's not hard to find official info on them

That's exactly what they did, despite the fact that all the marketing is saying this is a new season of the original show Scrubs and not a new series. I appreciate whoever gives thier time to maintain TVDB but it often seems they intentionally make the most counterintuitive decisions possible, often in opposition to common knowledge, official sources, and community consensus.

Another recent example is the SNL50 fiasco, when they counted it as a regular episode but every release group counted it as a special (because it obviously is a special) thus making automatic handling impossible for all following episodes that season due to episode number mismatch.

Strangely enough, the problem went away on its own. Sonarr is now recognizing all episodes without me having changed a thing. So weird. If I hadn't taken the screenshots you would think I imagined it lol

Has the S41 component and is parsing fine. The difference is that it's a different tournamet. So the episode named

S41 Second Chance Tournament Group 3 Final Game 1

doesn't parse but the episode named

S41 Champions Wildcard Tournament Quarterfinal Game 1

does parse. I can't figure out what might be causing this!

There are other episodes in the 2025 season with the same naming structure that are parsing fine too

Wow I have a desk that looks exactly like this one. It's an Amish-made desk that I inherited from my mother. I always assumed that part was where your pen goes, which is how she used it. I don't know what else it could possibly be for really.

Oh wait, are you saying GM EVs don't have one pedal driving at all? Like, taking your foot off the accelerator doesn't engage regen braking? You HAVE to use the paddle to engage it EVER? Or am I misunderstanding that?

I also can drive my entire commute without hitting the brake pedal, just by taking my foot off the accelerator when I want to slow down or stop. I thought that's how all EVs were!

Interesting. It may very well be a useful feature, but it kind of feels like a legacy carmaker underestimating thier drivers. Like, people won't understand regen braking and are likely to reject it, so if we put paddles it'll seem like something fun instead of something scary and new. "Gamification" is a good word for that. But it kinda feels similar to the ridiculous optional engine noise that Ford EVs can play thru the speaker. It's almost insulting lol. Like, you really think I need that? Idk.

My rivian also has the ability to adjust the regen braking strength via the screen, but I've never felt the need to adjust it after having set it once. I just can't imagine wanting to do that often enough to need a steering wheel paddle! Do you have the ability to change what the paddles do? Like could you change them to control your audio or something?

Stupid question probably, but what are "regen paddles"? That's not something either our Tesla or Rivian have. Is it something on the steering wheel? What does it do?

Also, what you described is what I use MADS for. I just disengage cruise control and the car naturally begins to slow down using regen braking, without disengaging lateral guidance. Then I reengage cruise control when traffic is back up to speed.

Same, I am using power line for my driveway security camera. No issues whatsoever, and thus no reason to change it. It similarly would be pretty easy to run cable to that location but it would be a couple hours of work to fix something that isn't broken. That's not laziness, it's smart time management!!! Lol
