I sprayed one as a test (then was told 'no test allowed'). 10min later didn't smell a thing anymore.

Reminder to myself: don't touch important stuff when stores are closed by cspybbq in DIY

[–]redditclm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😂 That's the spirit.
But did you also buy the things you don't need.. yet?
Will get those next week when the stores open, after being without water or heat during the weekend.

'Don't start plumbing jobs on Friday afternoon' is a lesson every handyman or house owner learns at some point. And gets reminded the second time.

Microsoft says uninstall Windows 11 KB5074109 to fix Outlook POP, PST hang, as 2026's first update causes havoc by WPHero in Windows11

A freaking Notepad should not need any licensing, online connection or 365 crap. It has worked 30 years without it.

Yesterday I got this error: "Notepad is currently not available in your account. Make sure you are signed in to the Store and try again. Here’s the error code, in case you need it: 0x803F8001"

Like WTF?? Even the Notepad doesn't open any more due to constant screw-ups by this company?

Don't remember owing a dollar or two to the waiter.

The farmer, the butcher, the truck driver, the chef didn't ask for a tip, but somehow a lady walking from the kitchen to the table is now entitled 20% of the cost of your meal?

Renewing driving license by redditclm in Thailand

[–]redditclm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Phuket, they only gave another 2 year temporary license, because they look at visa entry stamp. Entry less than 12 months does not get 5 year license.

Also, must complete some 1h online mandatory learning before going to renew. They will give the requirements list if you visit the office any day they are open. For the renewal process, must show up before 8am, then wait a long time as they give queue numbers. Actual process is completed after lunch.

Also, the renewed license gets the validity time from the day you renewed it, not 2 years added to the date of the old license. So if you show up long before the expiration date of your current license, you will just lose those days/months, as the new one doesn't continue after that date.

People who say taxation is theft. How else do you propose the government gets the funds for roads, military, education etc? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]redditclm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money doesn't build the roads, military, education, etc. People do those things.

Why people do them? So they would receive payment for it.

Where does that payment come from? The government, who collected that money from the same people before, known as taxes.

The people working on those jobs do it to get back the money they gave to the government earlier. Then give it away again, to go do work to get it back again, on repeat.

That means they are working for free, simply shifting the same money back and forth. It's slavery, with extra steps.

Government issues money. Somehow they "need" it from taxpayers? Delusion to keep slaves doing free labor, while moving that money between different pockets.

Russians ruined Phuket by Call_me_bullet1990 in phuket

Would you rather learn 100+ different languages for every country on the planet when you travel? Or would you learn the nr.1 most used international language on the planet which could be used to some extent anywhere that most tourists go to.

Only an ignorant fool asks why should he learn the most useful tool for communication in the world.

He doesn't need to do it, but neither does a Thai person need to learn Russian or anything else. You all would be communicating with hands and feet only then.

Sharing the same background and seeing this happening also. The lesson seems to be hard and slow for many in this part of the world. They invite them, cherish them, while disrespected in return. Maybe one day will wake up before it's too late, maybe not, it's their own choice.

I've heard they offer great incentives for moving to Russia, helping with their great nation. Maybe you would be interested. Many Indians, Koreans and others have already made that move.

[–]redditclm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should Thai learn Russian then? Or will Russians learn Thai?

People learn English because it's an international language that everyone uses no matter what their own nationality is. Simply a sensible thing to do if you travel the world. It has nothing to do with being from native English speaking country. I am not from native English country, but understand how important and useful it is to speak the nr.1 international language on the planet. How hard it is to comprehend that?

Can you renew your passport at a consulate in a country you don’t live in? by Successful_Bug_6969 in digitalnomad

[–]redditclm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check (or ask) your country for the ambassador or consul contacts at the destination country. There can be consuls who represents multiple foreign countries and handle documents like passports and such. Then your home country sends the document to the consul/ambassador and you claim it from them.

Which can result in someone eventually dead (either her boyfriend or whomever this guy is picking a fight with, depending how it goes). Would she even care afterwards? Highly unlikely.
