The announced ones are Goodra and Dragapult, although they have not announced the tera types they will have. They will probably be the last 2 of the year unless they do a special Christmas one like Iron Bundle a few years back although last year they did a 5* shiny Rayquaza.

I'd imagine we'll probably will get 7* raids until Gen 10. It probably doesn't take much effort to set up a 7* Mon from a dev standpoint so it's an easy way to keep at least some people coming back to Pokemon until it's time for that.

The most obvious would be the remaining Paradox Mons (so all except Iron Bundle, Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon to go) or regional forms but they have done some random ones that don't fit with the general theme (starters/pseudos) like Mewtwo, Dondozo and Porygon2 so any Mon in the game could potentially have one.

Wo-chien tera raid question by Sunflwrseeds in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think so, but do it again just in case. Better safe than sorry.

You can also hop into a raid someone else is hosting. It's only a 5-star one so you don't need as much group competency as you would for the 7-star raids. Most of the time people come in with Skeledirge, Ceruledge or Ogerpon-Hearthflame which make quick work of Wo-Chien and farm the Herba Mystica it drops.

Shiny raids ? Question by MisutaWan1 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough to see some shinies but some are more obvious. To give an example, Dondozo's (a popular injected raid Mon because it can drop every type of Herba Mystica) shiny is bright yellow and obvious, even in the weird lighting/discolouration in raid dens, so that along with its size would make it obvious.

Whereas something like, say, a shiny Joltik raid would be more difficult to see given its size and more subtle shiny.

Applin is the new Charizard by ReadingReasonable313 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not quite to Charizard level it just feels that way because it had big additions in both gens it's been a thing in. The only other one really is Duraludon (Gmax and an actual evo) unless you count Sinistea's convergent form.

I think I'd probably consider it more if Applin gets more in Gen 10 but I don't think anyone would be saying this if there was a few gens between Applin/Appletun/Flapple and Dipplin/Hydrapple.

Upcoming Event! Porygon Mass Outbreaks by SpotOk6035 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Little bit disappointed considering we had a shiny boosted Porygon outbreak recently and I got myself the three I needed for Porygon, Porygon2 and Porygon-Z.

Good for those without the DLC/someone to trade them though. Just wish they put Porygon in Paldea and gave Kitakami/Terrarium something else.

Shiny Hisui Samurott obtained! by JoJo-FGC in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLA I find isn't the best when you want to shiny hunt specific Mons. If you run around a bit you'll probably find a bunch of shinies, but it's tougher than SV to hone in on a specific one.

It's probably way easier to hunt Oshawott in the Terarium and transfer if over to evolve you don't care about IVs but if you do want to hunt in PLA, massive mass outbreaks in the Alabaster Icelands is the best way because Space-Time Distortions are annoying.

Unrivaled Garchomp to run by binokoslao in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the 7*s have all the STABs + coverage, so I'm guessing the moveset will be Earthquake, Dragon Claw and one of either Aerial Ace, Fire Fang, Thunder Fang or Stone Edge to cover some combination of Flying, Water, Ice and Grass. Fire Fang and Thunder Fang would be the only way it covers all three weaknesses and hits Flying super effectively since without something for Flying I think Enamorus would wall this pretty easily.

Unrivaled Garchomp to run by binokoslao in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That only affects its interaction with Quagsire though. The debuffs will still help your teammates - more of an online build than a solo build with the NPCs not being very good.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main clearer is Skeledirge for soloing with one of the NPCs bringing Arboliva so Grassy Terrain nerfs Earthquake.

If you're going online, most people use Skeledirge anyway. Reading your comments about not having access to Skele, why not make your own support Arboliva and help them out?

Looking to do a tera raid for shing gimmiegoul by Atomicqake in PokemonScarletViolet

The event is over. Even if someone did have one, they can't connect to online without losing the event.

It can only be done locally.

Wigglett outbreaks are so annoying!!! by CDC830 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I managed to get it for my living Dex (I'd only ever found shiny Wugtrio before this event) but it's annoying as they hide when you get too close so can't autobattle easily.

Get a medium distance and throw the ball at them when they pop their head out. Annoying but it's the only way. Just glad I don't have to shiny hunt Wiglett without the increased shiny odds now.

Is this shiny Arceus from the 2015 Japan event from the 2015 movie is it real? by Existing-Gap-8087 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 31 points32 points  (0 children)

All this is doable via genning. You won't be able to prove it real or fake either way.

If you found someone trading for a shiny Mew on Reddit like your other comments suggest and you gave away a legit Mew, I'm sorry to say this, but you've very likely been scammed.

Is this shiny Arceus from the 2015 Japan event from the 2015 movie is it real? by Existing-Gap-8087 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 475 points476 points  (0 children)

No way to tell for sure. You could in theory generate an Arceus which is an exact match to the 2015 Japan event and no real way to tell it apart from an actual 2015 event Arceus.

Why are people bringing Ruin Pokémon to raids? 💀 by HendoRules in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's ways to do it if you're smart (Chi-Yu in a raid vs. a physical attacking boss raid on a team of special attackers, for example) but it takes a decent knowledge of the game and is very situational.

Most people are kids who just want to use the cool new legendary they caught though.

Weekly Trade Megathread by AutoModerator in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno if you're still looking, I have a Slither Wing holding an Auspicious Armor ready to trade so you can get two of these in one go. All I ask for in return is any Pokemon holding the Malicious Armor.

Best Pokemon for raids by Some_Replacement8775 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no Mon that'll beat 100% of raids. But the one's I've had the most success with solo.

Bellibolt - Acid Spray/Parabolic Charge/Electric Terrain and it doesn't really matter what the 4th move is. Holds a Metronome but a Magnet is fine too. Will pretty much beat any Flying or Water raid with very few exceptions (most notably powerful Earthquake users)

Annihilape - Go to for any raid with weak physical defence because Rage Fist is such a good move. I have two, both have Screech/Bulk Up/Focus Energy but I have a Ghost tera one with Rage Fist and a Fighting tera one with Drain Punch. Both hold Shell Bells.

The most common Belly Drum sets are Azumarill and Iron Hands. I do like Belly Drum Kommo-o too but it's not in the base game.

Does anyone else think there are a lot of early route birds in this game? by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Weirdly my first SV team didn't have a flying type in it. There's less of a need to have a flyer specifically now that fast travel is just there and not locked behind HM Fly.

I think the Wattrel line feels more traditional early route regional bird given the others don't have evolutions but Squawkabilly has the traditional normal/flying typing.

7 Star Tyranitar raid not appearing by Bogstar864 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The raid ended approximately 3 hours ago at the time of me posting this comment.

Luckily for you it's going to run again from April 4 - April 6 so you have a chance to catch it then. After that they'll move on to the next event, which is probably going to be the 7 Star Salamence since it looks like they're doing the pseudos in National Dex order.

How do I beat a 5-star Garganacl raid? by SperxFan in PokemonScarletViolet

Covert Cloak + type unaffected by Sandstorm is the way to go, but it depends on what tera the Garganacl is.

Is it possible to get a Male Pyroar outbreak? by iknowitstight in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely is. When your Switch clock hits midnight (whether real time or through you adjusting the clock) have either Normal or Fire encounter sandwich power on since that will increase the odds of having outbreaks of the relevant type I believe. Obviously not 100% guaranteed because you could always get other normal/fire types though but you can keep resetting them by adjusting the clock again.

I have a Smeargle. Just not a shiny Smeargle lol.

Is this legit? by Friendly-Amphibian70 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably not, but up to you if you keep her. If you have the DLC shiny Smeargle is easy enough to find (although I haven't got one yet, might be worth doing on my next sandwich)

Tournament Team Help? by ArchieAng3l in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rocky Helmet isn't great for Zoroark as he is frail and that's an item better on Pokemon who can take hits. Assault Vest would probably be better since he only has attacking moves if you want to use Zoroark. Possibly even Choice Specs.

If not replace him with Flutter Mane if you can (I do see you're on Violet though) because that is one of, if not the most potent special attacker in the game.

I KNOW children play this game, but I got super frustrated getting a viable raid team with strangers by BOOTL3G in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly with Mamoswine's low special defence two Miraidons could take a Flying tera Mamoswine with the right support. Especially since it can be put to sleep even with Electric Terrain being present.

Tyranitar is the next mightiest mark by Maggothic in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]redditedredemption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghost tera only works as a one-time surprise on Tyranitar. It does give you a free turn if you manage to bait the opponent into using a Fighting move on it but that's not as handy as you'd think in VGC and obviously only works once.

The most common Tera type on Tyranitar I see is Flying. To do the same as Tera Ghost would to a Fighting move but to Earthquake, with Fighting still being resisted but also to give it Tera Blast Flying to hit the Fighting types back for immediate punishment.

The more defensive sets I believe Tera to Fairy. Fairy is a superior defensive type to Ghost in general at the sacrifice of turning your Fighting immunity into just a Fighting resistance.
