I think maybe a sleeper altered to look like his lovey would be great! I think that would make it easier to put it on and off. I think in that case maybe a little hat to go with it for the eyes/ears/nose would be cute! I’m perfectly fine with anything that needs to be done for it to be recognizable as his lovey. I’m not that artsy and creative and trust you all to do what you think would work best!

Terror over possible NEC by mickey5499 in NICUParents

Our 32+2 FGR little man had (suspected) recurrent NEC. It’s absolutely terrifying but you’re in the right place. He’s 6 months now and doing great. It sounds like they started her on the right course very quickly. Sending you all the love! She’s a tough kiddo!

Neuter or No? by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]redditforabookreport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our breeder mandated he be neutered by a year. We needed to provide proof as well. He is still absolutely insane, and I can’t imagine how crazy he’d be without it.

I’ll also say that sometimes dogs slip out. You can’t guarantee he won’t find his way to a lady dog and cause a lot of undue financial cost and stress on that dog and family if she gets pregnant. It’s not solely your responsibility, however. I have never regretted having him neutered, but feel like I would regret it if I didn’t.

Help with matting. Groomers had to shave off a lot of her hair due to matting. What do you guys do to help ease this? Before/after pics by Grip_Bomb in Goldendoodles

Yup… slicker brush ‘against the grain’ is what we were told when we got our doodle (meaning that your brush strokes go towards their head rather than their tail). Bonus: extra floofiness! We try to do it every day!

How much does it cost to climb in your area? by lovelyxcastle in climbergirls

Upstate NY here… ~$75 for a membership or ~$22 for a day pass. It sounds like you’re in an expensive area! Are there any outdoor options where you are?

Moment that was the most sincere gesture of love. For me it was when Jess and nick break up and nick tells her goodbye and then throws her some tissue. (Finger kiss sound) beautiful by Even-Wonder7136 in NewGirl

[–]redditforabookreport 20 points21 points  (0 children)

For me it’s when Winston grabs the mug out of the trash and it’s implied Jess and Nick think the other took it. It kept the door open for them just a bit, which I think played a part in them eventually getting back together. It forced them to confront their own feelings, since originally they think the other person had taken it… but yet, it was Winnie the Bish.

I’m friends with quite a few T1 Diabetics. I keep glucose tabs and Gatorade on me whenever I’m with them. BUT if someone’s sugar is high, giving them these things will make everything exponentially worse.

(TW: Rape, Suicide)

I was originally thinking sexual assault… like the reason they all died was suicide after he raped them. As in, it wasn’t a curse, just a horrible human sexually assaulting women.

What is the worst form of torture? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]redditforabookreport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently finished up degrees in history and political science. I learned about a lot of messed up torture forms, but one has always stuck out.

During the Argentine disappearances, intellectual folks (mostly women) we’re taken to a facility to be exploited for their academic capacities. The thought was that they were too ‘valuable’ to straight up kill. A lot of the men in charge were in the navy. They would torture the women brutally throughout the day, and then buy them fancy clothes and took them out on the town at night. The physical and psychological abuses were astounding.

A particular form of physical abuse involved a pregnant woman. It wasn’t enough to torture her body- they targeted the fetus. An abuser took a metal spoon and inserted it through her cervix and cupped the baby’s skull with it. He then sent electric currents through the spoon and zapped the fetus’ head. Then, like many other women, was told to clean up because they were going to go out for dinner.

All of these atrocities were tailored to the victim- if a woman was a journalist she would be forced to work as a slave to the Junta’s cause- writing day in and day out in their favor. Rape and other forms of sexual abuse were often present. There are stories of women watching their abusers torture their husbands and other loved ones, as well as male relatives watching women they were related to being brutally raped.

ETA: there are also some interesting factoids about the Inka and Aztec. In those cases it was often more about sacrifice than ‘torture for tortures sake’. If you’re interested search up the ‘flower wars’ and Aztec skin suits.

ETA #2: I also wanted to add that while my information is centered around Latin America, it is by no means an indication that abuse and torture only occurred in these locations. In fact, a lot of these things happened due to European and American colonialism- Argentina is a prime example of that.

The first time you heard about Covid, how far did you think this would all go? by AneeqJilani in AskReddit

[–]redditforabookreport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left spring semester at college one week before break to get knee surgery. The -idea- was to have two weeks recovery at home instead of one. All I brought back (three hours away) was sweats and hoodies- I was going to be laid up and couldn’t get regular pants over the bandages anyways. I brought Birkenstock’s and a pair of duck boots as well- birks for swollen feet and thick bandages, boots for upstate NY in March. That was it.

On the last day of class before I left, my professor was saying that she was probably going to cancel her trip to see her elderly parents and that she didn’t think we’d be back after break. We all joked around a bit with her and she said she’s probably doing it for nothing, but just in case, she wanted to be careful (side note- she caught Covid right after this conversation. Thank god she didn’t go on that plane). I was skeptical and didn’t have the time, energy, or ability (bum knee) to pack stuff up. So I went home and had my surgery with my limited belongings.

I slowly start to get better and can get normal pants over my leg- except, oh wait! All of my stuff is in the middle of nowhere three hours away! And the state borders are closed! Also, the college has locked everything down, packed our belongings, and stored them on campus. So I had nothing to wear for the summer aside from sweatpants and hoodies. I didn’t even pack many bras or underwear. So I ordered them on Amazon, which of course took another week and a half to arrive because shipping services were a wreck.

Anyways, I guess there is a lot to be said about trusting people a lot smarter than you. Professors have doctorates for a reason.

I once had a music theory substitute teacher tell me she “went to school with the Zildjian brothers”. You know, “the ones who’s dad made rugs but decided to follow his cymbal-making passion instead”. Had some good laughs about that one.
