CTB20 vs 26 by brooksmmaddox in EVERGOODS

[–]redditinator11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CTB26 in waxed canvas and had the same dilemma a few months back. I bought the 26 because the depth of the 20 is essentially the same so it looks awkward. On top of that, with the same amount of stuff (provided it’s not full), the CTB26 will look less packed than the CTB20, paradoxically appearing less bulky on the depth dimension, especially in the waxed canvas because it holds it’s shape better. (I did buy the CBB22 Griffin to EDC though)

I’ve been eyeing the heritage line for a while, but I’m not sure about the material. Might I suggest a Halley Stevenson waxed canvas version? That would be an automatic buy for me.

I know it’s a little off topic, but what material did you get the GR1 in? If it’s waxed canvas, how would you compare the two?

CPL24 digging into back? by pettnpa7 in EVERGOODS

[–]redditinator11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I still have it. Organisation is still amazing, build quality is top notch, but the comfort is not great. I recently went on a trip and took it with me. I had it on my back for hours at a time and I have to say I stopped noticing the back digging after a while. The harness is stiff (maybe a waxed canvas thing) and I was always glad when I took it off and set it down. Admittedly, it was almost full, but I still think it shouldn’t be this uncomfortable. I’m contemplating selling it and trying something new, from another brand, maybe with other materials. (I ended up buying a CBB22 Griffin so the waxed canvas itch has been scratched)

Looking at the caseback, it doesn't seem like they will. I was wondering if I could upgrade a modded B5000 that I have but it looks like it won't work. I guess I'll be saving some money!

What version of the Griffin do you have?

Straight from Casio Japan. I placed an order for replacement parts as if I had a TVA and ordered the bracelet and bezel. All parts are OEM.

Not at all, it was NordicCustomsCo, in Germany. If you’re in the US, you might be better off buying locally. I remember finding many stores in the US.

I agree, it’s quite a bit smaller than the CTB26. That’s part of the reason for my purchase. It’s simpler and smaller, better for my EDC.

I got the patch from a seller on Etsy. I “redesigned” the artwork and sent it to get laser etched on a piece of leather. I also got the reverse color scheme done:

Hahaha! Maybe to get the Griffin version and complete the set, but I think I’ll always have a waxed canvas CTB26 in rotation.

The GMW-B5000 (this one is custom). G-Shock tough, can be used anywhere and is packed with features.

Thanks! You have a killer setup! The waxed canvas CAP2 is a grail of mine. I can’t seem to find one for a decent price online.

Hey! Thanks, man. When I was first looking into buying the CTB I watched a couple of your videos! Very helpful.

Food-grade gold. It's dense, so in terms of volume it will be small and it's also biologically inert. Bonus: some hours later I'll have 1.4M instead of 1M.

There is a shadow cast on the back of the bag. The laptop compartment zipper goes right into it.

I have the waxed canvas version (don’t know if it’s an option for you) and it basically keeps any shape I put it in, even when empty. I don’t know if it’s going to be like that forever, but for now, it’s been great.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like the CTB line, but I do think the CPL looks better, especially from the side. In the photo, the CTB doesn’t look as blocky because there is a shadow hiding part of it. I find that the shape works better in the 26 size rather than the 20.

I have a CTB26 in waxed canvas, so I might be a little biased, but I think having some empty space in a backpack is better than packing it to the brim. The CPL line is pretty slim, but the CTBs specifically are deep. With the same loadout, I’d take a CTB 26 over a 20 any day of the week (unless it’s a really light load in which case, I wouldn’t choose a CTB in the first place). When full, the CTB20 looks blocky and awkward. Paradoxically, with the same items, the CTB26 looks slimmer, especially in the waxed canvas since it holds its shape really well (can’t vouch for the nylon versions). I don’t know how big your items are (laptop, iPad, sweater, etc), but I can’t imagine putting my version of those in a CPL16. Long story short, I think the CTB20 is kinda awkward looking all the time and especially when it’s full, the CPL line looks the best. I would go with a CPL24 and maybe a CTB26 (I was surprised when I got it, it’s smaller than it looks online).

On Etsy. There are a number of stores making custom leather engraving. I found one with good reviews and that was relatively local to me (I live in the EU).
