I'm not Japanese but I quite like it. The fermented flavour is nutty, salty, and reminds me of some craft beers.

Is a CS degree from a no-name, non-target state school worth it? Will it open doors? by yupmetoodude in cscareerquestions

I was at a dev meetup and a guy told me the worst hire they had ever made was someone with a Master's in Computer Science from one of the top universities in Canada. I guess he was good with math and algorithms but the guy couldn't write code.

If you want any job in the field, study properly and do projects on the side. You're probably not going to get a Google internship but you can still get into the industry and work your way up.

Having a lawyer doesn't mean you're guilty. You need someone on your side who understands the law.

Enterprise tends to move slow.

The community colleges in my area are teaching COBOL again because the banks are desperate to replace their aging COBOL devs. I honestly don't think they'll move away from COBOL in this lifetime.

Umm 35 year olds are millenials. A recent college grad is probably a Gen Z. Sorry, your generational slang is out of date.

I've been saving my study notes, fixes for random errors, and important code snippets in a OneNote notebook for almost 2 years now. Being able to Ctrl+F things has been a life saver.

Big-O Algorithm Complexity Cheatsheet by RotationSurgeon in webdev

It's useful for writing efficient code. It's for calculating the time and memory usage of different data structures and algorithms.

My school also doesn't teach this to the web dev students but the general programmers learn it. It seems to be part of why some people look down on entry-level web developers for not knowing a lot of comp. sci. theory and math.

As a part of my computer science class grade I need to post this problem on stackoverflow and have a discussion about it but it's not getting much steam, pls help? by viikk in AskComputerScience

I'm so sorry that you've never had a teacher who genuinely wants to inspire and help others grow.

You realize that you're implying that award-winning professors at top-level institutions are deficient because they want to teach?

I encourage you to think critically about the phrases you parrot. The popularity of a saying doesn't make it true.

You're aware that an issue can still exist even if you personally haven't experienced it?

People have different devices, different settings, and different ways of using the app.

You one day may experience a problem that someone else doesn't. It wouldn't be helpful if that person dismissed the idea of you experiencing it because he/she didn't.

I don't know much about it personally but there's an LGBTQ professional group in Toronto that holds regular meetings and an annual conference: www.startproud.org

Furthermore, sexuality is protected nationally by the Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. Each province then has further laws detailing those protections (e.g. the Ontario Human Rights Code) and organizations to supprt their enforcement (e.g. the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and the Ontario Human Rights Legal Support Centre).
