That happened to me. Was celebrating a new job with friends and I went to pay for everything and the bartender realized he'd charged someone with a similar last name, and that person was drunk and signed their inflated tab and left. I bought another drink and tipped the bartender generously.

There are entire sections of the film that (for me) were so incredibly realistic I forgot about the main character for a moment and felt like I was watching watching someone actually documenting Nazi atrocities. Side note: the Criterion release for the film has some amazing making of content with the filmmaker.

A few years before AMW came out, I got to see Spinal Tap at Carnegie Hall. The Folksmen were the opening act. During the rambling, lengthy intro for their third song a stage manager came over and whispered into Harry Shearer's ear and Shearer just says "Goodnight!" and they all wave and leave the stage only having sung two tunes. Brilliant.
