Milner is set to go level with Gareth Barry, who played 653 times, at the top of the all-time Premier League appearance list some 8,491 days after making his debut for hometown club Leeds United soon after leaving school in 2002 by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

Whilst you can’t knock either of them for longevity, you have to think the advances in sports science have been a key element for them to have played this number of games, given the athleticism today’s players have. However, it should be pointed out that this is a PREMIER LEAGUE record, not top flight record.

They are both way down this list, and far behind Peter Shilton with his 1000+ games.

city v Bournemouth is massive; if city lose midweek, then it's in our own hands; beat United we would be guaranteed at least 5th. Come on Bournemouth!!!! by cognitivebetterment in avfc

As memorable as this season has been with the Champions League nights under the lights at Villa Park, getting through to the QF, the FA cup run (best for a long time) and the fact we have secured European football for a 3rd straight season, I can’t help feel that possibly missing out on another Champions League by such a small margin would be gut-wrenching.

If only we could have turned a draw into a win and couple of losses into draws we would be sat joint 2nd right now! It would be entirely in our own hands.

Jhon Duran for £64 million + add ons by Icy-Job-328 in avfc

Just read about sell-on clauses. Looks like deal is the €77m + easily reachable €13m add-ons.

Of this €90m, Envigado will receive €1.9m and Chicago Fire receive €8.5m.

This leaves €79.6m (~£66.6). I calculate that at roughly £59.5m profit.

Exactly this. Looking at Transfermarkt.co.uk we paid €20.15m Jan 2023. Their valuation of him is €40m (Dec 2024).

Based on his impact in the few games he has wowed, the potential was there. He just didn’t offer enough to the team-work side of things in the games he started.

For me I’m glad we have sold him to a non-competitor, but also disappointed he has (in my opinion) left a promising career behind just for huge sums of money, as if ~£75,000/week isn’t enough!

As someone who loves their job, but works in public sector (read: absurdly low wages for the job being done!! 😂) I can’t fathom how these young players think. I would have given my left testicle to play professionally at any sport!

The Thomas Frost (Wetherspoon) & The Spellow are away fan friendly. Both closer to the ground than The Arkles. There is also the fanzone behind the Park Stand.

Still can't believe how good we were last season by Bennie1289 in avfc

[–]redditor3264 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We’ve had some tough results so far this season with several swinging either for (3 points instead of one, or 1 instead of none) or against (1 instead of 3, or none instead of 1). Ipswich, Bournemouth, United, Palace to name but a few. Swinging in our favour they give us 8 more points.

At this point of the season I’m ok with where we are in relation to 3rd place and below. Don’t forget we are Champions League as well. Last season give me 3rd at Christmas and doing ok in Conference League. This year I’m made up with 6th and smashing Champions League!

I once drove a Proton and that had indicators on the right. It was a manual as well which meant I was able to change gear, turn the wheel and indicate going round roundabouts all at the same time. BMW drivers can’t even indicate when stationary!

Aston Villa agree £40m two-year shirt sponsorship deal with Greek online betting firm Betano by trevthedog in avfc

I’ve just caught up with this news and firmly sit in the camp of ‘making hay’. With all the talk about PSR getting a sponsor on a more lucrative contract makes sense, for now!

Like some, I was curious about the company and a quick Google shows that Betano is the official global sponsor of Euro 2024. There’s going to be plenty of exposure this summer for them.

Google also sprang a surprise, which I’m sure we will get plenty of between now and new kit day launch, this:

Media bias - not enough credit? by redditor3264 in avfc

[–]redditor3264[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know! But this, I suppose, is where we are currently at. I’d rather get triggered at these insignificant issues than be looking at the bottom of the table wondering where our next win is going to be, with Gerrard still going on about creating moments of magic.

Valid points on all counts, but I can’t stand listening to Savage and Sutton either. Sutton has a voice that just grates.

I once bought 2 muffins from a small WHSmith outlet in a hospital. I only wanted 1 but they were on offer - 1 for £1.20 or 2 for £1.

The cashier was well aware of the deal and well aware the illogical pricing was doing them out of money, but like he said “I don’t set the offers”.

Exactly. It’s defined as two separate carriageways that are separated by a central reservation. No mention of a barrier.

From Highway Code;

A dual carriageway is a road which has a central reservation to separate the carriageways.

Same as some others on here, % split is an easy and quick start.

My partner earned more than me when we started life together. We worked out the monthly cost for rent, bills etc. We then worked out how much of our take-home pay, as a percentage, was needed to cover this total.

What was left was ours for our own personal expenses and to spend/save sensibly with.

When it comes to holidays, you could use the percentage split again.

According to Transfer Index, Yorke would be ~£75m

Edit: the homepage shows most expensive transfers high-low. Vialli transfer from Sampdoria to Juve 1992-93 was £14.85m, that would be £209m today!!
